I wasn't

The post I replied to was acting like Miami had no problems with hurricanes. I was stating they put a roof on the stadium to protect from rain but still have shitty attendance.

They need at least 10,000 people to plop down $2,000+ for season tickets. A good chunk of MLB attendance especially on weekdays is based on season ticket sales. How many people on this board are willing to pay $2,000+ for season tickets to watch a baseball team? How many people in New Orleans are willing to pay that much for season tickets?

MLB finances are driven primarily by the number of TV sets in the metro area. NOLA doesn't have enough of those.

Being in an area prone to hurricanes has absolutely zero affect on being able to support a MLB baseball team

People pay more than that to watch the lowly Pelicans. Your figures sound low to me

yea, NOLA has near zero chance of getting a MLB team - its beyond silly to even think its possible

but its not because of the weather

With the support LSU baseball has and most CBB in general around here you would think so.

Maybe if it wasn't a NOLA team by name and location it could work....but thats a big maybe.

It is low. $2,000 is basically season ticket prices for upper box seats. Better seats will obviously cost a lot more than that.

uild it in Algier's Point with the French Quarter and St. Louis Cathedral in the background.

I always liked the proposed football stadium concept for that location that was briefly discussed before Katrina.

Nola can barely support the Pelicans and they play half the amount of home games.

It would be awesome, but there's no way we could support one. The games are too expensive and it's too hot. We'd need a dome, and I don't know where in the city we could put one except for maybe by the Crescent City Connection. What we should do is move the Baby Cakes to that site and build a minor league stadium that is designed to later be able to be expanded to become a major league park. If it's supported, 10 years later, you move the minor league team out, ipgrade the stadium, and put a major league team in.

What NOLA needs is a hockey team. Put a minor league team in the league with the Lafayette Ice Gators. If it's successful after 10 years, give them an NHL team and move the minor league team to BR.

NOLA should have built the minor league stadium downtown like Memphis has. Then they would draw 5k plus a night out there probably. But there's no way the city could draw 20k plus to a baseball game if they have trouble with 15k to a basketball game

I don't understand this quote.

More people would go to major league sports than minor leagues.
A baseball town supports minor league teams. Nashville has great crowds for the Sounds when I lived their. Zephyrs games are shite on a stick. NOLA could never even dream about supporting an MLB team
