Average MLB attendance is around 25k. Stadiums are rarely filled.

NOLA already has a dome.

The dome can't host baseball after the 2011 renovations.

For 41 games, the Pels averaged 16,000

So Nola would need to average 9k more for 40 more games to be average in MLB attendance......

Because we're comparing different sports for no reason:

They average 70,000 for football games.

New Orleans market is not big enough for a MLB team imo.

NOLA is not, but I have wondered if someone has studied the gulf coast as a region. Put a team in Mobile and call it the Gulf Coast (insert mascot).

This brings up a point... could the Superdome fit a baseball field? I remember in the late 90's, going to watch some college baseball games in the Superdome. But I wonder if the Stadium renovations after Katrina changed the floor layout at all with the positioning of seats that would make a baseball field not work?

Edit: just saw Loungefly's post. So I guess it wouldn't work.

Yeah, I just looked at minor league attendance averages. Charlotte, Nashville, and Birmingham are the largest southern baseball markets outside of Atlanta.

I'd easily go to more MLB games than Saints games.

Well, you would have 73 more games at your disposal.

If Nola got a team, tickets would be $0.50 on stubhub

What NOLA needs is a hockey team.

Why not a MLS team? Let them play at Yulman Stadium.

I would love it. I would be there opening day and buy hats and gear.

But wouldn't make it to more than a few games a year.

That was my original thought.

But not in Mobile. In new orleans

I'd love to see a team downtown. Doubt it would ever happen, but would strongly support it.
