Love Davidson with Curry.

Also love FGCU.

Obviously, that LSU team making it to the final 4. And Butler with Hayward and Shelvin Mack.

But my favorite team has to be that Kemba Walker led UConn team a few years ago. #9 seed in the Big East tourney, went on to win it, and win the Championship. I actually called them winning both before it started because Kemba was on a tear.

Was 1 of the best post season run in recent memory. And the way Kemba did it made it even better. Clutch shots, the cross over step back to beat Pitt, etc. Hes so fun to watch.

Augmon and Johnson at the F and Moses Curry at C was like running into a freaking Crip convention wearing red.

They destroyed Duke by 30 the year before too.

Those Duke tournament teams in the 90's with Christian Lawttner were just magical.

I'm with this. 2006 was great, but nothing topped LSU's run in 1986. Beat the 6, 3, 2, and 1 seeds on the way to the Final Four. 2 OT win and a second round buzzer beater, both in Baton Rouge. Then beating Georgia Tech with two NBA all stars in Atlanta, then beating Kentucky with Ricky Blanton getting his roll on. AWESOME.

Anybody who was alive back then knows, I think. What that team went through was incredible. They were down to like 7 or 8 legitimate players. The rest of the team was injured, suspended, quit on them, etc.. Ricky Blanton was a freshman small forward forced to play center. They beat 3, 2 and 1 to get to the Final Four. And the 1 they beat already beat LSU THREE TIMES that year.

In spite of the name and conference, what they did is in my mind much more incredible than what George Mason and VCU did.

Also, LSU led eventual national champion Louisville by 8 at halftime in the Final Four.

I was so disappointed the next year when the refs cowered from Bobby Knight and LSU lost by 1 in the Elite Eight to Eventual champs Indiana. Can you imagine LSU in the Superdome for the Final Four?

Knight wasnt going after the refs, he was blasting at the NCAA Tourney directors. Dale Brown was doing same thing. It was a terrible officiating job that night.

So a coach can bang a phone sitting at the scorer's table and not get a technical?

Of course, LSU had a 1 pt lead missed the front end of a 1 and 1 in the last 20 seconds that was key in the loss.

The banging incident happened early in the first half I believe.

You can argue that something should have happened (and I do too), but like you said--you also can't argue that LSU didn't choke. They choked like Greg Norman on the last day of a major.

So you give Knight a tech in that spot and it still turns out like it did. That was a great basketball game where both teams overcame terrible officiating. I remember Dale really getting after the same guys than Knight and they both had an argument. We didn't make the plays and they did. Nikita vs Garrett and Thomas down low was awesome. The sad part of it was Fess played a great game but missed the free throws when it counted, he was huge in that game. The interesting part of Knight-Brown was that when both coaches needed their back covered they both came to their aid and have been friends since.

Yup I watched this the other day... Went stone cold in the 2nd half and PERVIS showed up... I was upset over that loss just because of what Dale and that team accomplished....

Going full homer on this one...but I gotta go with my 2006 Northwestern State Demons that took down Iowa with the 3-pt buzzer beater...the Hawkeyes were #11 and fresh off their Big 10 tourney win. In the 2nd round it looked like we might pull it off again against WVU and Pitsnogle...we cut it to 8 with 5:00 left but couldn't get the shots to fall down the stretch.

2006 was just a great tournament, period!

LSU Tigers that year were awesome and that 2006 George Mason squad was great!
