doesn't have to be purely based on majors.....Ben Hogan seems like a good choice. who you got?

Hogan or Palmer in the professional era. Bobby Jones also a strong contender IMO.

Calvin Heimberg is clearly #3 behind the champ Ken Climo and Paul McBeast

Toss up between

Palmer, Hogan, Sneed, Watson, and Player.

Palmer is the 3rd biggest name, but I can’t put him as my #3 considering he didn’t complete the career grand slam. I probably put Hogan 3rd with his 9 majors. You can make a case for Sneed with 82 wins tied for most all time and 7 majors. Watson has 8 majors but he also did not complete the grand slam.

All the GOAT debates are unnecessary and somewhat comical, but people love them. It’s like moths to the flame. It’s hard, and unfair in ways, to compare players from completely different eras

I realize this is for 3rd best ever, but the point remains the same

Phil Mickelson

Best Lefty of all time in a Righty’s game.

Arguably the most influential golfer of all time as well.

There was an interesting article talking about how far he would hit a ball with his swing and today's equipment. He could crank it out nearly 300 even in his day. Also, he could still play with the big boys well into his 50s, and even won a PGA event at age 52. He finished in the top 10 at the PGA Championship 3 years in a row from ages 59-62. He shot his age of 68 once in a PGA tour even as well. Just an incredibly long career of great golf.

Heimburg will eventually pass him, but I give the edge to Wysocki right now.

Phil going to LIV changed the game more than any one single event in PGA history.

Tom Watson

Was ridiculous before he got the yips later in life.

At the British Open Nicklaus shot 65-66 and lost by one stroke to Watson's final 2 rounds of 65-65. It was a remarkable weekend. They both lapped the field.
