Defensive backs. They play a reaction position and have to have the speed to recover, the ball skills of wr's, plus the ability to tackle rb's that are almost always bigger than them.

Antonio and Julio Jones seem like the best athletes in the NFL but alot of DB's can make a case. Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Peterson, Eric Berry, shite you can throw Lattimore from the Saints in there with the kind of rookie yr he's having.

Aaron Donald is an outlier, that guy is an insane athlete

Depending on how much emphasis you put on hand eye coordination, it’s the QB

These are going to be your best baseball players, golfers, & in basketball, your best shooters & ball handlers

If you’re talking purely physical components, it’s WR

I don't think there is a certain position that has superior athleticism. I guess it depends on your definition of athlete. I'd say every game it's different. One game AB might be the most athletic guy on the field, the next game it could be a safteylike cam Chancellor or a QB like Cam newton.

This is the correct answer

Coaches have always told me that usually your best all around athlete is the QB.

They can pass, run, receive and kick if necessary.

In High school it will either be the QB or a safety most of the time.

I say safety because putting him in the middle of the field gives him more opportunity to make plays on both sides of the field.

If a fight breaks out, I want the DE and TE on my side. Those guys are usually big and athletic.

The WR/CB are probably the most versatile overall athletes in terms of speed, power, size, strength, agility, etc.

RB/LB would also be up there.

Everybody else is a specialist to a degree.

Bruce Smith?

One of the GOAT players at his position, but great athlete?

I don’t think he was a better athlete than Kerse, or Julius Peppers or Clowney, even though none of them could hold Bruce Smith’s jock strap.

It’s funny how fast people get confused by the word athletic. Being bigger or more skilled has nothing to do with your athletic ability. So no a TE is not the answer it’s probably Landry or Lewis tonight

I've always felt any football player who could also do the pole vault in track had to be a great athlete. Just think, running full speed and with enough body control in mid air to do all that crap.... so my answer would probably be a running back, or maybe defensive backs.

Varies from team to team.

But probably the best pure athletes in most teams are DBs and WRs
