But in all seriousness, either Red or Phil.

Regular Season- Gregg Popovich
Postseason- Phil Jackson
Overall- Pop and Phil are 1A and 1B to me

Best GM

Did well long before Russell so maybe you're right.

1. Red
2. Phil
T-2. Pop
4. Pat
5. Multiple could make an argument IMO (Rudy T, Chuck D, Larry Brown, Jerry Sloan, John Kundla)

It's really hard to compare eras.

Older, Auerbach, easily.

Newer, Phil Jackson at the peak, Pop for longevity. Pat Riley and Jerry Sloan are underrated top five guys in recent memory too.

Actually, Red only had 19-28 playoff record without Russell. That's pretty much the same playoff record Mike Woodson has as a head coach. He really didn't win much without Russell. I don't think he's in the same class as Phil, Pop, and Riley who all had a lot of success with different players in different eras 20+ years apart. He's unquestionably the greatest GM in the history of basketball though.

Lue’s success with Lebron has to make question Phil’s success to some extent.

There's a skill to get superstars to play well together, anf Phil has that. Lue had to just ride out LeBron in the weak arse Eastern Conference. It might say more about the entitlement era of the NBA, but Lue couldn't keep Kyrie and LeBron happy together.

What did Phil win without Jordan/Pippen, Shaq/Kobe? Kinda hard to hold Russell against Red, while not acknowledging the talent Phil had as well.

It is insanely early but where will Kerr fall?

I know he is nowhere near this conversation yet, but let’s say he wins 3 more in the next 10 years. Where does he stand?
