Doc Gooden at the age of 20 in 85 was about as dominant as I've ever seen. Finished with the triple crown of pitching with a 24–4 record and a league-leading 1.53 ERA, 268 strikeouts, and 16 complete games. He wasted as much talent via drugs as any sports figure has in the last 50 years. Peak Pedro and the Big Unit are also in the discussion.

Terry Mulholland is nothing more than a poor man's Kent Mercker.

Seen Doc throw against the Astros in the Astrodome, sounded like a 20 gauge going off when he popped the mitt.

We got to experience peak Pedro, peak Maddux, and peak Randy Johnson, slap dab in the middle of the steroid era, all at basically the same time.

The best I've ever seen is peak Pedro. Truly remarkable. The most astonishing I've ever seen is Mariano. I get waiting for someone to tee off on that damn cutter and it never happened lol

Doc Gooden in 84-85 was unreal

Ron Guidry in his 25-3 season was basically un-hittable. Probably the best season I've ever seen from a pitcher

Jake Arrieta during his run. It's not close. He was absolutely unhittable for a full calendar year.

Lot of young people in here. There are some fantastic pitchers that aren't even getting mentioned.

I saw Doc Gooden pitch against Mike Scott when they were both in their prime. Two very dominant pitchers. I may be wrong but I wanna say the Astros won 1-0. I think Alan Ashby got the gwrbi.
