re: Who is a more genuine good dude Watt or Tebow?

I know plenty of people that have met Watt and all said he's a very nice and friendly person. He certainly comes off as an attention whore and I'm sure he loves the attention, but I've never heard someone say they've met him and had a bad experience. He does tons of charitable stuff in the area as well. But let the hate fest continue

Maybe it's because he's such a classless douche.

Tebow has always struck me as a genuinely good guy, even when I was rooting against him (on the field) during his Florida days.
Watt just reinforces without fail what many people think of him -- a try hard attention whore who lives for social media theatrics. I've never seen someone pat himself on the back more for how hard he works or his supposed leadership skills (which is laughable).

Tebow helped chop off the foreskins of little boys who had no say in the matter.

Totally agree. It's not that I think JJ is totally phony but he loves to be on camera showing how nice and hardworking he is. A lot of guys do that stuff without needing a camera crew following them around.(I'm obviously not just talking about Hard Knocks).

I've never met either so it's impossible for me to have an opinion either way

Tebow is a genuinely good dude.

I'm not going to say because I don't know much about what Watt does in his off time other than what gets posted here...which isn't too flattering to him.
I'll just say as a volunteer at one of the sites for Tebow's 'Night to Shine', the prom held for special needs children in 200 churches in the US and overseas, I can't say he is not genuine.

Why either/or.
I think they're both good guys ... attention whores? Possibly, but really neither have to be to get the attention they get. That comes with the high profile star players are going to get. Doesn't bother me that they are praised for doing good things for other people. Damn refreshing even if it is somewhat overblown. In a world of asshats like Johnny Football, Kaperknick and so many others, I think both at the very minimum try to project a good image and serve as decent role models for all the kids who look up to them. With two sons who are big sports fans, I'd much rather hear about the Goodj things they do than celebrate some guy who only knows how to flaunt his greed, arrogance and ignorance

JJ Watt reminds me of a story David Letterman used to tell about how Jay Leno would have a camera crew follow him as he drove around L.A. looking for people with flat tires. He'd allegedly jump out to help if he saw someone pulled over with a flat as the camera crew snapped pictures that'd they'd then leak to the press to show what a great guy Leno was.
Watt reminds me so much of that. He seems obsessed with creating this brand wherein he's a laser-focused leader, a tireless worker who eats, sleeps and breathes football, and a "Tebow Lite" philanthropist. He even created a logo for himself for God's sake. He just appears to be much less subtle in his attempts at self-aggrandization and quest for attention. He moralizes to other players about being me-first glory boys while at the same his twitter is nothing but nonsensical bragging about how hard he works. He slams other players for not being as focused on football as he is and then he's dating Lindsey Vonn and doing photo shoots with Katy Perry. He talks about how he's training in a minimalistic cabin in the woods like he's Rocky about to fight Ivan Drago, and it turns out his "minimalistic" cabin is a mansion.
I wouldn't call him a fraud, but he is unquestionably a hypocritical braggart.

Tebow is very genuinely a good person. But he is definitely aware that he needs to occasionally promote and market the "Tebow brand" in order for him to keep earning the money that has afforded him his platform to do good.

Can't find the gif of Watt shoving the team physician while attempting to treat his nosebleed.

both tebow and watt are pure class and incredible athletes and human beings. media wants you to hate them because of their spirituality, conservativeness, and race. instead, the world is a better place because of people like them.

What? Watt is as big of a douche as they come.

Thread probably should have been title, "Who are you more jealous of, Tebow or Watt?"
I agree 100%. Both these guys are what you want from an athlete. They're role models, spend tons of time and money to help the community, and do a lot of things that never get shown on TV or social media.
If my kids turned out like either person, then I'd be proud as hell. They'll probably end up behind a keyboard on Tigerdroppings bitching about their jealousy instead like half the people on here.

I suppose but for a douche I bet he spends a lot more time and money helping the community than you. He probably spends more time than any person on this board. It doesn't count because someone puts it on social media. The kids he visits in the hospitals don't seem to think he's a douche.
Sometimes people on here should step back and realize how petty and jealous they sound.

I honestly don't care about his motivation but some of the things he's done here in Houston have made a difference and he's been good to a lot of people that need some help or hope. If his motivation isn't pure, then it doesn't change the end result. I feel like Houston is lucky to have him in the community. Andre Johnson was another guy like that but much more quiet about it. Their personality doesn't change their impact.
