I don't really know if coach Sam qualifies for best coaches. Didn't he get fired for choking a kid or something of the sort?? Coach Dautreive at BM was pretty good from what I remember. As for Lavie, that man was a nut but thought he was awesome, nonetheless.

Kenny Almond - Basketball

Kenny Guillot gets a mention in football for the sheer fact that he won state undefeated with that team last year. They were an average team at every pos. except offensive tackle and a sophomore running back/slot receiver/returner.

Basketball. John Altobello. DeLaSalle, St. Aloysius. hands down. Check his record and # of city and state championships. Not sure where they are, but he has tons. Here are the championships from DLS, which do not include "city championships" or St . Aloysius.

1956 State Runner-Up
1956 State Runner-Up
1957 State Champions
1958 State Champions
1959 State Champions
1960 State Runner-Up
1962 State Champions

He also won four baseball state championships.

Also, Dick Bower, swimming.

Is wrestling big in South LA? Just wondering because I don't think anyone up here offers it. I know WM and Neville combined to have one when I was in school, but it didn't last.

And he won the title in 2001. And he's won 12+ games 9 out of 11 years.

The Jesuit swimming coach, whoever that may be. I know their program has won more state titles in a row than any in the country.
