USC
Florida State
Texas
Florida

I think the best answer is Florida State. They have the most forward momentum right now and Clemson doesn’t seem to be the juggernaut they’ve been in years past.

Texas will struggle cutting their teeth in the SEC but they are bound to make a good hire eventually. Florida is in a pretty deep hole right now and Georgia will dominate that division for a decade. USC has the easiest path to the playoff but defense will hold them back.

USC was 1 win away from being in the playoffs this past season.

Not a chance after this year.

In 2024 USC has LSU, Notre Dame, and a full Big 10 schedule.

I think Southern Cal is "back." They return the Heisman winner and should be the favorite to win the Pac 12 next year.

I also agree the Noles and Horns are far ahead of Gata, who is facing some serious issues internally and those presented by the juggernaut in Athens. I think the Noles and Horns have recruited well. With that in mind, if they both struggle this season and finish, let's say 8-5 or so, I would think Norvell and Sark are fired.

Florida State will be the next in that group to win a title.

If conference realignment wasn't happening I would give USC a better chance. Same with Texas.

Texas has by far the best NIL collective out of that group. FSU is pretty good. USC and Florida are both an uncoordinated mess.

UT just needs to find a way to softly unload Seven Win Steve

depending on who they draw in the reconfigured Big 10, that might not be all that daunting.
although I'm sure they'll get at least 1 of Michigan, tOSU, Pedo State and Wisconsin.

Exactly.

They'd be the favorite to win the B1G West if they played in it this season.

Texas by all accounts should be in the playoffs every year. But it's the culture there that is the problem. Too many chefs in the kitchen so to speak. Until they get a coach that has total control and is actually good they will continue to struggle.

My money is on USC, they are already on their way.

I'm not sure what constitutes back, but USC and FSU are on the rise. Texas is a perennial underachiever and Florida is going nowhere fast.

It won't be FSU. The great era of Seminole football wasn't accomplished with smoke and mirrors. They aren't recruiting and bringing in Bowden-level talent. Now if they were bringing in Miami, Texas, recruits, over a period of time, then yeah they might once again be living in the high-rent district.

Powerhouses come from extraordinary talent, period.

I don't think any of them anytime soon
But I'll go with USC. They're closest. But while the Big 10 will undoubtably fatten their wallet, I don't see how paying 40% of its games in the midwest helps the recruiting. On the other hand, they should be top tier in NIL, so that may push them to the top. And Big 10 adding Washington, Oregon and No Cal would help too.
Then I would pick Texas. SEC might help their recruiting.

FSU very well may surpass what appears to be a declining Clemson, but that's a long way from a powerhouse. Other than a powerhouse Clemson, AAC football is about what the Big 12 and Middle/top of the AAC are. Lot of recruiting pressure and competition in Florida which challenges FSU and Florida.

Florida is definitely at the back of the pack there. Napier picked up some decent depth with this years recruiting class, but no top end talent. And with the Rashada situation, it's very doubtful to pick up much going forward. Napier also seems like a mediocre game day coach and is his own OC, so that's a pretty terrible combination.

Florida State had a good record this year, but it seems like smoke and mirrors to me. The LSU win was a fluke. They beat terrible Florida and Oklahoma teams at the end of the year by 7 and 3 points, and both teams barely had a pulse. The high school recruiting is terrible, and I don't think constant rebuilding through the portal will lead to sustained success. The biggest thing they have going for them is how bad the ACC is.

I suspect everyone's definition of "back" is slightly different, but I expect Texas to be better than many people believe in 2023. Their losses were by a combined 19 points, I believe, and that was with an injured Ewers all year.

They brought in a much-needed reciever with great speed, and they return a lot of players who were really young and inexperienced last year.

The question is, can Sark actually coach? I hope not, but 2023 is a big year for him if he wants to be there long term.

Texas has been a perfect study in needing a CEO type like Mack Brown and not offensive “geniuses” like Herman and Sark who can’t handle all parts of the job and delegating.
Until they relearn that lesson it’ll be more mediocrity.

FSU and USC are already “back” but it won’t be the dominance they enjoyed in the 90s/00s.

I actually agree with a lot of this, but I don't understand why people keeo acting like FSU didn't deserve to win the LSU game or it was a fluke. FSU dominated that whole game and if not for some idiotic coaching decisions down the stretch FSU wins by 2 touchdowns.

As an FSU fan I wish everyone would slow down. We played some absolutely horrible teams this year, 4 in a row who couldn't even complete a forward pass, but also got our shite pushed in by Clemson and Wake Forest. Like you said we struggled with UF and Oklahoma, and that's because our defense will always be a problem under Adam Fuller. fricking always

We'll have a talented 1st string this year but we haven't built the depth behind it because of our subpar HS recruiting. Top 5 this year is way too high, we should be thinking about beating Clemson first, and winning the ACC, not this top 5 hype or playoff talk or JT13 for Heisman, it's ridiculous. The problem is that we have so much top line talent from the transfers that when they leave we could fall off a cliff in 2024. The QBs we have behind Jordan Travis suck, and half the wins we have over the last 3 years were almost solely due to him being Houdini. We'll see but if Norvell doesn't start getting top 10 recruiting classes we won't last
