Yeah, that's not a big deal when your QB is the running back on 95% of the plays.

511 will never eve come within 170 wins the way the modern game is played. I think Maddox and Clemens had what 340-350 wins

In todays game 250 career wins in hall of fame numbers.

Stolen bases is theoretically possible. Game would have to change back to small ball, but that wouldn't require a complete change in the game.

Joe DiMaggio’s record of 56 consecutive games with a base hit will never be broken.

Oerter, Lewis, and Phelps are the only athletes to win indivdual gold in four consecutive Olympics in the exact same event...

Which today’s so called specialty pitchers this record will be hard to break. Back in those days each batter saw pitchers like 3to4 times each game. Now we have what they call a “quality start” stat for pitchers how go 5 innings and are gone do at best you see the same pitchers maybe three times a game. Plus the unrelenting pressures of today’s media will be almost unbearable for almost any player trying to focus on this. This is not really a record but I want to see ANY player come close to Babe Ruth’s numbers of 1921. I just don’t see it happening.

Another record I have not seen yet in this thread is Hack Wilson’s 190 RBI’S in 1930. I don’t see anybody touching that the way the game is played today.....

I agree, which also makes what Warren Spahn did so impressive.

MLB Debut 1942 record 0-0, but did have a complete game (darkness)

1942-1946 killing Nazis (Battle of Bulge & Battle of the Hürtgen Forest) earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart

1946 age 25, first of 363 wins, still a record for lefties

Bob Gibson’s 17 Ks in a World Series game has been tough to break. Only El Duque and Kershaw came close to breaking it.

but I don't see those records EVER being broken as the MLB doesn't value stolen bases like they once did.

It’s hard for me to agree with this. SB are not valued now bc the game has changed when Ricky played. What says the game doesn’t change again over the next few decades and SB become easier and more valuable with rules changes. Hard for me to say “ever”.

George Blanda threw 42 picks in a season. No way a QB is ever getting that kind of latitude again.

That will be tough to break. Although you could say, if a team plays more games than Nebraska did, it would be broken depending of the wording of the record. An option style offense that never throws the ball is a candidate

From Game 3 1996 to Game 2 2000, the Yankees won 14 WS games in a row. Doubt we'll ever see that again.

Tommie Frazier passed the ball 177 times vs running 111 times. You're only wrong by a factor of 2000%

I would say one that is untouchable is Johnny Vander Meer.
Someone might come along and equal his record but no one is going to break it.

Talking football, probably won't ever see a HS team like the 1983 Daingerfield (TX) team. Named #2 HS football team of all time in TX behind the Longhorns NC in the 1960's.

First team to go 16-0 in TX HS. Gave up a total of EIGHT points in 16 games. Shutouts in 14 of them, including ALL SIX playoff games.

Jack Taylor pitched 187 consecutive complete games between 1901-1906. That one feels pretty safe

Tommie Frazier attempted 163 passes in 1995 which would rank him at 100 out 125 schools.

It's not remotely an impressive record not being sacked for an option team that is getting 10 yards a carry.

It's not even an impressive record if a non-option team did it compared to all the other great records listed.

So what you didn't get sacked in 12 games because you ran the ball all the time or the QB had an itchy finger and threw the ball away because he knew it wouldn't hurt the team.

Now if Danny Weurfell had never taken a sack living back there waiting waiting for Spurriers long routes now that would be something.

Not all-time something but at least something.

I think pre-war baseball records are safe.

DiMaggio’s record is breakable. It just takes an incredible amount of luck, and the right kind of hitter. Today’s game doesn’t value contact hitters as much. It’s gonna take an Altuve or Ichiro type of hitter.

Modern era (or at least a guy who played in my lifetime), that Nolan Ryan strikeout record is incredible. The role of starters has completely changed since he retired.

Rickey’s record is in the discussion with a record like Nolan’s, and Randy Johnson’s CG SHO. The game has changed, and until there’s a dedicated base stealer with unheard of speed, nobody will come close to Henderson.

He was also a very underrated hitter.
