If Houston ever got a NHL team would you switch to them or stick with the Avalanche?

I would switch to Htown’s NHL team.

If little ColoradoAg03(s) ever happen, I just assume they will naturally grow up here as Denver sports team fans. Hard to say.

As a protest when you are pissed at your team's coaching staff and management.

Life’s too hard to be anything more than a bandwagon NBA fan. I can’t imagine hating myself enough to choose to be a hardcore fan of the Grizzlies, Thunder or Pelicans (no offense-I’m definitely on Zion bandwagon).

Never.

When you pick sides, you pick sides.

If you move to a new permanent home it's ok.

Also 20 years without a championship is ok.

I faced a similar decision in my youth. I casually liked the Chiefs when the STL had no NFL team, but when the Rams came over I supported them. Since then I have moved all over the country, but always stuck with STL. Always have. And always will.

If you switch teams, you're going to get shite.

The standard for being allowed to give shite is extremely low. Pretty much any kind of excuse and it's allowed

If he works there and goes to games, and is supporting them, no reason he can't switch.

Now, if Pels become a power and he begins to follow them again, then give him shite

That's just how I see it. You don't have to agree.

Sports is supposed to be about enjoyment, not wallowing in a team's misery because they're not run competently.

If you've watched a team for 20 years and they haven't won a championship or at least seriously competed for one (deep playoff run) I don't blame anyone for finding a new team if they want. Basically, if there's been no hope for that long (first round exits or no playoffs) then that's a poorly run team.

If you’ve lived exponentially closer to another city and have lived there a while I think it’s pretty reasonable to follow a new team.

I followed the Predators for a while in hockey just because they were closer. Now I follow the Stars since I’m pretty close to Dallas. Will never unfollow Saints or Pels, too much loyalty to them

The championships aren't the purpose of rooting for the team

I softened my stance to include at least a deep playoff run.

There has to be some hope sometime along the way. Otherwise what's the point? You enjoy watching a team with no hope to do anything?

Not my point

You root for a certain team because you have an emotional connection to that team for whatever reason. You don't ditch an emotional connection because it's not producing results for you unless you're a POS bandwagoner.

Moving towns is acceptable because you start going to another teams game and developing a different connection.

You want to root for a championship team but the purpose of rooting for that team isn't to see them win a championship.

Let's say you switch from a losing team to championship team. First year you decide to root for them they win a championship. Do you really feel the joy of the championship? No.

I just understand that everyone is not a sports diehard.

I am a diehard, and I've never ditched a team but I'm not going to look down on anyone if they do after they've been following for a while. It's really not that serious. We can just agree to disagree.

It would suck as a fan. You feel betrayed so obviously you're not gonna keep rooting for them but you have no connecfion to any other team. You'd just have to find a way to connect with another team.

I'm not saying you can never switch. I'm just saying switching because they can't win is lame AF. You moving towns or the team moving towns are two of the only genuine excuses I could see being legit.

It's not looking down on somebody, it's just reality.

If someone's switching teams every few years, they don't have the same connection to a team. That's why it's annoying when they act like they do

There are zero actual ties to any professional team for the vast majority of people besides geographical proximity. So why does it really matter?
