I mean what has he done to deserve to get his name mentioned for every open position on earth. He did not do that well in the pros. I know he won a SB but any coach could have with those players. He is very overrated. Mooch is way passed his prime, not a college guy. I think they will end up with Butch Davis.

When he ruined Tony Dungy's superbowl winning Tampa Bay Bucs.

The year he won the SB, the team he beat he also built.

If not for a goofy arse ruling the Raiders may have gone to the SB the year before too.

Now, by saying "also" I guess that means you're saying he built Tampa Bay too? He won the superbowl his firt year there! Thats hardly building

he should have possibly won a super bowl with the raiders if it wasn't for the bs of the tuck rule

Brian Billick is as good as Gruden, and has similar career numbers, but no one gushes over him like Gruden.

Good coach.

Being a rah rah fiery guy people see on TV every week makes him a "great coach".

Probably but still. I don't like to use "should have possibly" when talking about a guy's merits.

tell that to Tony Dungy.

Tampa Bay was damn good when he got there though. They came pretty close to upsetting the Rams in the NFC Championship in 1999. They got screwed when the refs over turned Bert Emanuel's catch. Not saying they would have gone on to win but they were about to get inside the redzone. Gruden coached 11 years and only suffered three losing seasons in that span.
