I feel like I’ve never seen this before. Omaha was always just called the college World Series. Now everywhere I see this pop up on ESPN or the official website it’s the Mens College World Series. Has it always been called this or did the NCAA/ESPN just start this?

We did this thread yesterday. Apparently having an issue with that makes you a snowflake crybaby, so just move along.

There’s just a certain irony in the people who flood the board with SJW snowflake posts who are literally crying over an “M.”

For the record I think it’s kinda dumb and it’s obvious that ESPN is doing this for branding purposes. But it is what it is and it’s stupid to cry about it. This is not the hill to die on.

It really does, I mean one word bothers you so much you are talking about that instead of the actual games. I’ll keep watching the games you talk about the social issues instead of the sport snowflake.

And how can they call it “mens” without assuming gender, something that I’m told doesn’t really exist.

On this Father’s Day, I’m guessing yours is not very proud of you.

No one is “literally” crying an “M”. They are just pointing out it is unnecessary virtue signaling. I doubt any potential fan was sitting around thinking “you know, I might consider watching the CWS if it wasn’t so misogynistic”. Likewise, I doubt many fans of softball were terribly aggrieved the event was known as the Women’s CWS.

It’s just another example of corporate America “fixing” a “problem” that did not exist, SOLELY so the corporation can feel great about themselves.

If ESPN really wants “equality” how about they cut the BS and push for one sport…with no gender separation. One sport, just baseball, which is open to all genders. Best players, regardless of sex, play. Best teams win. Until then, changing the name of an event that is 70 years old is just feckless virtue signaling.

Do tell, what is the hill to die on? There are many hills out there in 2022.

It's because of "gender equity" language theory. They've always called the softball world series the "women's college world series" and the men's just the "college world series".

According to gender studies theorist this implies the men as the "default", therefore you have to add the gender to BOTH labels out of "equity".

Gender ideology has seeped into everything.

I can guarantee you there’s no one “literally crying” over this.

How long will you remain willfully ignorant of the BS being foisted upon everyday life? Absolutely no one, not one person had a legitimate complaint about the labels prior to this.

This is straight from the university cancer known as "gender ideology" where we have to consider men and women as perfectly physically equal, even to the degree where a woman must also have to have the ability to have a penis and a man must have the ability to be pregnant.

It wasn't enough to consider the sexes morally equal, they're going forever alter everything they can in a fit of denial over the absolute inevitability of their physical differences.

Yet here you are talking about the social issues while calling me a snowflake. Talk about the irony.

if this was the goal, wouldnt it make more sense for them to remove the W from the WCWS as opposed to adding an M to what was the CWS?

Why not just call the softball WS the CWSS (College World Series of Softball) and leave the baseball as CWS? That would make the most sense.

I think it would be easier to call it the Softball College World Series and the Baseball College World Series.

But that would still probably piss that crowd off.

You sir are the snowflake. The original poster was just pointing out the obvious. The alphabet group is just stupid…so few people in it but it has to affect us all.
