The Stephon Marbury meltdown on justin tv.
Thankfully, we can all laugh about it now because he pulled himself together in China (which is another crazy story). At the time, though, all bets were off.

Dan Uggla 33 game hit streak in 2011. He was the best player in baseball for nearly 2 months that year and probably not one of the best 50 players the other 4 months. It was a sight to behold.

the OJ Simpson trial. Since he was a football player and announcer that counts

I enjoyed the crazy run the Rockies had like 10 years ago to get to the World Series. Required an epic tie breaker game win to make the playoffs

Tiger Slam and Tiger just in general from 2000 to 2002. That’s the closest to perfection anyone will ever get in that sport.

Similar to that, Joe Public American wasn't into it so much, but Federer 10 straight major finals and 23 straight major semis is just absolutely insane.
OJ and Te'o are good ones as far as freakshows. ETA, a couple of the board contrarians like jimithing and I think fox mulder did a nice job calling out the Jonathan Martin sob story when we all thought Incognito was a TPOS.

Georgia sports teams choking is a fun one for me personally
The Saints Super Bowl run was the most fun I’ve ever had. Such an insane season. Nfc championship game win win grown men crying. There will never be another party like that again.

Loyola Marymount running and gunning even after Hank Gathers died, rolling defending national champion Michigan, Bo Kimble shooting left handed free throws, and making a regional final was awesome. I always laughed at their Stumer/Fryer white guy combo.

I think a lot of people in here are missing with the point. They are just picking their favorite title run.
This is about when the only water cooler talk is this sporting event. Take Tebow mania where after each Sunday all people would do is talk about the game and the crazy shite how they pulled it off.
The goal is the best phenomenon that lasted for a couple days, weeks, months typically. Championship seasons are typically not the answer. Leicester is the most unlikely champion ever, which is why that's different.
What's the Mark "The Bird" Fidrych moment in time that you got over attached to?

The Nashville Predators playoff run to the Finals last year. The way it took over the entire city was insane and so much fun. Especially with Johansen and Fiala going down in previous rounds and guys like Freddie Gaudreau stepping up to make incredible plays. I was at Auburn in 2013, too, and even that "magic" didn't compare to the SCF run with the Preds.
