The Iron Bowl is the closest thing the United States has to the Old Firm rivalry between Rangers and Celtic.

Yeah.

Before football was invented.

1 person was wounded.

Save me the drama.

Also, why do the former Michigan and MSU players I know always talk about the rivalry in state being more important?

Because for MSU, the Michigan game definitely is their biggest game every year. And the Michigan players "you know" probably try to downplay the OSU game because they always lose it

More Auburn fans were murdered at the hands of Alabama fans this year because of the Iron Bowl than were killed in that beta arse war.

Get some.

I am going to get downvoted for this but I don’t think most people honestly care very much about that game. They’ll watch it but how many of them really really care about who wins?

I agree with you. I mean, Go America, but Army Navy typically showcases mediocre football that has been dominated by one team for a good while.

I mean, how can someone be pumped to watch the triple option?

I'm a WVU fan we could take on both yall fan bases with ease.

Auburn fans are too nice and Bama fans are up tight pricks.

Michigan - tOSU is a “bigger” rivalry.

Iron Bowl is a better rivalry.

Saban would broker a peace treaty. We'd team up with y'all and wipe Auburn off the map.

Bigger how? Nationally? Ohio St/Michigan. Historically, too.

I don't know why people always say this. It's like talking about Texas football, not quite as good as people think.

Michigan has 1 National Championship since 1948. (Bama has 10 AP championships in that time frame, Auburn has 2)
Ohio State has 2 National Championships since 1970.

The idea that people huddled around their TVs all over the country to watch fat Big 10 teams play is absurd. All rivalries are regional. They're only nationally relevant if the participants are winning NCs.

Well if you go back to the 70's the 10years war was epic between UM/OSU... But recently the Iron bowl has taken over A somewhat more national appeal.............

Exactly.

And 7 of the last 8 winners of the Iron Bowl have gone to the NC. And we've had some incredibly ridiculous games recently.

Since 1948 the Iron Bowl accounts for 12 NCs. The Game...3.

I bet the Iron Bowl record is WAY closer in that timeframe as well.

I'm more than fine calling The Game more popular, more prestigious feeling, and bigger. More people probably watch it.

But the Iron Bowl, as a game, absolutely shits on it.
