OSU-Michigan is bigger. It involves two states, each of which are far more populous than Alabama, and two of the biggest schools in the country, each of which can make a claim to be a top 5 program all-time.

Alabama-Auburn is not as relevant nationally, but is far, far fiercer. Nothing else in American sports compares to it in that regard.

Iron Bowl has had much higher stakes nationally in the past decade. It’s been a Playoff or national title deciding game for the past 7 years, “The Game” hasn’t been relavent in over a decade.

Bro that shite was a long time ago and had nothing to do with football and had a measly ONE wounded person.

We have more wounded at my family reunions.

Sounds like your family needs anger management or some etiquette

Iron bowl isn’t that hostile. Everyone gets together holds hands and chants SEC at the end anyway

Rivalries are measured by hatred. The Iron Bowl wins that hands down.

Ohio State-Michigan is bigger in the sense that more people watch, and the media hypes it more.

The Iron Bowl is better though. Better teams, better fans, and it's more intense.

Michigan being the most overrated program in sports makes people think The Game is more important than it actually is.

says who? The only people I know who make a massive deal out of The Game are from the midwest. Michigan usually isn't good enough for me to care.

Yes. Auburn is Michigan's equal since WWII, and since the turn of the century, they're significantly better. Michigan has won one national title since the '40s, and Nebraska would've easily beat them that season if the BCS or CFP existed. Michigan football is one of if not the most overrated program in sports.

It's been a big game for decades. Because both teams have always been relevant and blue-bloods and two of the best programs of all-time.

Alabama-Auburn, not so much.

It was Alabama and who? Who they playing? Until their 2004 season (where they went undefeated but didn't win the Natty) most people barely knew Auburn from Baylor.

They were known for Bo going there once upon a time.

It's not a great rivalry if one rival doesn't have a similar great history.

Michigan - Ohio State
ND - USC

Most NFL players, combined Nattys, etc.

One rival can't be so much better than the other historically.

They're probably closer than you think.

But that's not even the point. And this is strictly speaking about the aura of the game...

Auburn is a great program and yet still foams at the mouth with hatred towards Alabama. And Alabama feels superior and feels like losing to Auburn is just never fricking acceptable. It's a fantastic balance that culminates in 2 rabid fanbases losing their goddamn minds.

Michigan is overrated af, first off. But still feels that air of superiority. As does OSU. The Game feels like 2 stuck up/rich people arguing over who has nicer things.

That's just the vibe I get from each of them.

Michigan has sucked so much cock for so long that I barely consider them a worthy rival to OSU. For people my age that rivalry is a complete joke.
