Seems like they should sit their starters. I know they wont. But i fail to see the upside of risking their starters to injury today.

Conference title games need to be eliminated under the 12 team playoff.

How would losing cause them to face georgia?

I tend to agree that conference championships need to be eliminated. There is no advantage to playing them for the top 2-3 teams in the country, especially in a situation like this. Its complete bullshite that ohio st gets to sit out and wait for the playoffs while michigan has to play today and risk injuries. Kinda like lsu bama 2011

Winning a conference championship is still important.

It hasn't been important since 2011. What seems to be more important is being undefeated, or when there are very few of those, being perceived as one of the best teams in the country, even when your best win is only over Ole Miss.

Conference titles won't matter much at all under a 12 team playoff.

When it expands to 12 I would imagine the conference champions will get auto-bids, so yes they will still be very important.

I wish they would’ve eliminated divisions and just have the 1vs 2 in each conference be the de facto first round of the playoffs.

Lol no. You can’t give away one of 12 spots to teams like Purdue for winning a game when the other team has no motivation

Divisions in conferences will mostly go away and conference championships will be awarded based on conference record and tiebreakers

I think they fall no lower than 3 with a loss

Why would you think that? They don't do it now. It's all about the "best 4" as perceived by the committee.

The only reason P5 conference champions will be in is if they are in the Top 11 (last spot will probably go to a G5 school). They aren't going to all of a sudden put a #15 or #17 team in simply because they won the ACC.

If they wanted to adopt the FCS model with autobids, they would have already done it. We would have never even done the 4 team playoff and would have gone right to a format that allowed for that.

If TCU, Michigan, and GA lose today then none of the 4 playoffs won their conferences.

You guys are such wimps.
I’m not sure if you’ve played organized sports but you play to win your Division and League first.
All the extra is extra.

Dumb… 9-3 LSU would be playing for a 1st round bye today

It does feel ridiculous that Michigan beats a team by 22, and it should have been 29, in their own house a week ago, and that loss had no effect on OSU's ability to make the playoffs when there's only four teams in.

And it's especially demoralizing when it's clear that Tennessee and Alabama would easily beat OSU. WE have a very flawed system.
