Sometimes the outcome writes itself and "outside influence" isn't needed. This game seemed to be one of those instances where it played out exactly how they might have "scripted" it.

Heck, when SF kicked that FG in OT, I told my Super Bowl gathering that KC was going to go down, score a TD and win the game.

I saw it coming from a mile away. Made a few bucks on it, too, I might add.

That's the key - there doesn't need buy in from 3000+ players to get it done, you really just need a handful.

Refs and coaches can do it. Think about every time a coach seemingly has their stuff together every week, then just for some reason "goes away from what is working" in the biggest game of the year.

Down 3, Detroit went for it in FG range, leading SF to go up by 10 late in the game.

Baltimore led the league in rushing attempts per game. Then ran RBs 8 times against KC (8 more QB runs).

Do I think every game has a planned result? No. Did I immediately say to myself "KC is winning the SB" when Swift started showing up to games? Absolutely.

What's amazing is you don't!!!

If people are dumb enough to think we went to the Moon in 1969 they are dumb enough to think the NFL isn’t predetermined.

Last night even lacked any major calls/situations that could lead to the argument of influence.

If anything you could point to the holding penalty on KC that kept the 49ers drive alive in OT.

That’s a weak call in october let alone overtime of the SB.

It's embarrassing people believe that but the Chiefs really are like the 9th most talented team in the NFL.

If she had started showing up to Falcons or Panthers games, would they have won the Super Bowl too?

Because there’s no way a team who’d won the Super Bowl twice already in the past 5 years and had appeared in six straight AFC Championship games had any business winning this year’s SB otherwise, right?

These threads may well be more entertaining than the game itself.

Her publicist would never have her "fake" dating a Falcon or Panther because they didn't win the Super Bowl and they don't have a popular player for her to date.

Catching Kelce was a show from 2016 where he fake dated 50 women.

I was going to reply and say that there are also people who believe we didn't go to the moon but I see that won't be necessary.

All of this "the NFL is scripted!" stuff has evolved from fans wanting a way to rationalize why their team doesn't win. It is not that far of a mental jump from "we would have won but the refs screwed us with bad calls!" to "we would have won but the refs intentionally screwed us with bad calls!" to "we don't win because the refs are told to favor other teams and not us." It's a convenient way for believers to cheapen the accomplishments of other teams ("Yeah, nice trophy, too bad it was just given to y'all") while excusing the failures of their own ("We would have won it all if the games were called fairly"). Since it is ultimately a coping mechanism, getting them to let go of it is extremely difficult, because it would require them to accept the facts that they adopted the mechanism to avoid in the first place.

It goes both ways. The Saints NEVER had their season tickets sold out until they drafted Reggie Bush #2 overall after Houston stupidly took Mario Williams in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina.

Tom Benson wanted to move the Saints to San Antonio. Paul Tagliabo flew to Baton Rouge and met with Benson at Tiger Stadium.

Saints get Bush, play in the NFC Championship game and win a Super Bowl a few years later...and how long did the NFL milk that Katrina story?

Patriots defeat the Rams in 2001 after "Terrorist Attacks." Did you NOT think the team with Red, White, and blue wasn't going to win?

Its just as rigged/scripted as wrestling.

I think its influenced by the entertainment value of a game and that should be expected as the NFL is considered "Entertainment Sports". Part of the refs job in a big game is floating between "Let them play" to "Flag this to keep the game interesting". Ive accepted this and somewhat enjoy the game more.

Unless its my fricking team

Look how many still believe a virgin gave birth...to some dude who was murdered and came back to life....and lives in the clouds with his Dad.

Funny thing is, they're the first ones to criticize other people's beliefs.

It's a business like any other business. They do whatever is necessary to maximize profit.
I am entertained by those who insist that it's some sort of conspiracy theory.

You forgot the Rams moving to LA, and a perpetual 8-8 team nearly immediately wins the SB.

It's not for the "fans," it's the story that is built with it.

"Well why wouldn't Dallas win the SB each year?"

People still watch Dallas games to watch them lose. That's not the case anymore for the Patriots, for example.

So you think the NFL rigged things by having the Texans pick the better player, to help out the Saints?

And it's not just the NFL.

Look at the Houston Astros. They played 60 years without winning shite. They build a new stadium, move out of the iconic Astrodome, the new owner agrees to move them to a different league to accommodate realignment.

Their reward? Seven straight AL championship appearances; four AL pennants; two World Series titles.

Absolutely...and I would say Reggie Bush had the better career and was way more high profile...no one had heard of Mario Williams until he was drafted #1

Ask John Elway...or Peyton Manning.

Are you saying the NFl has never nixed trades?
