That was an extremely well written write up of the state of BK and Notre Dame football.

The perfect example of why I don't think he will ever get over the hump to seriously competing for a title is the Northwestetn game from 2014. At home, with the lead and the ball, on a wet field, and he calls a crazy toss play instead of pounding it up the gut and running the clock out, we fumble and lose the game. He is stubborn, but not in the Saban way were he out coaches the opponent and/or has superior talent that is a me to wear the opponent down into making a mistake, BK is stubborn in the way that he calls 50 passes in a tropical storm type of way.

We were up 12 with the ball with about five minutes to go and lost that game.

Against a team that finished 5 - 7 in a bad Big Ten.

In year five of the Kelly regime.

It's hard to explain to outsiders, but it's plain as day to those who watch the program day in and day out. We could site probably fifty or one hundred incidents from 2010 to present and illustrate incompetence, but it's exhasuting at this point.

better question: when will Notre Dame realize that football has passed them up. it's not 1988.

Wimbush gonna be ok at qb?

If I am being honest, he'll probably be pretty good this year. Good enough to win 10 or 11 games and get buzz for an early round draft pick next year.

He's a very talented kid. He has a gifted intellect, a rocket arm for college football, good foot speed, good leadership, etc. He will look great in some games.

But we've (ND fans) seen how quarterbacks do under this little Napoleon too often. He'll shine brightly his first year and then fade as Kelly's attitude and style grind him to dust. That's kind of the story of the Kelly era at ND.

has wimbush played much?

I'm very excited for our game up there in week 2. Also are there any concerns about breaking in a new DC?

He basically had to fire all his core coaches that had been with him for years to even keep his job.

He'll need 9 or 10 wins this season.

Swarbrick is in serious hot water as is. He is tied to the hip with Kelly. There was a lot of lingering anger at him over the Declan Sullivan incident, and the way he treated the violations doubly-pissed a lot of key decision-makers off.

Do mention the NDF player (Prince Shembo) who raped Miss Lizzie Seeburg who later took her life.

For months after her death, Notre Dame refused to publicly acknowledge Seeberg's allegations.

ND is not coming close to the playoffs.... the ND job is just not a top job anymore and the expectations are way to high every year for the program.... they just can't get the players they used to....

This is the truth. Who wants to go live in South bend Indiana and play schools in the acc. What draw does it have other than it's Notre dame!

It would take them finding someone who's better to replace him. ND isn't stupid they aren't firing guys just for the sake of "change". When they can replace him with someone better they will.

The one that stuck out to me last year was Kelly running his spread offense against Navy when he had such an obvious advantage on the line of scrimmage. They should have been playing that entire game out of the I formation and running the ball down their throats.
