What was the most shockingly bad season by a “blue blood” cfb team in modern history?

I say blue blood, but I guess any P5 team that has a name for itself applies

Some that come to mind

2008 mich 3-9

2007 ND 3-9

2012 Auburn

It's not Florida State going 6-7 last year + 5-7 in 2018?

2000 Alabama - pretty sure they started preseason Top 5 - ended with a 3-8 record.

Read the body of my op

I used “blue blood” in OP to save word space

Also I wouldn't call Washington a blue blood (far from it), but UW going winless in 2008 is really hard to believe.

1998 LSU started #7, rose to #6 at 3-0, then totally fell apart and finished 4-7.

2000 Alabama has to be the answer. They were coming off a SEC title. Plenty loaded with talent. But Dubose was not a leader. His staff hated him and coordinators actively trying to sabotage each other.

while certainly not a "blue blood" at the time... the school may be considered one now

1998 LSU (this terrible memory brought to you by SEC Shorts)

preseason #7

lost 7 of last 8

finished 4-7 and failed to become bowl eligible

Those early 90's LSU teams under Hallman were bad
There is no reason for LSU to be that bad ever
In one recruiting class he signed the top RB from these states - problem is only one can play at a time and not one of these did anything in the NFL

LA David Butler
AL Robert Davis
TX Jay Johnson
MS Artie Moore
GA Robert Toomer

Lost about 5 of them in the last few minutes of the game.
