They beat Ga Tech without the 3 right? Are none of them starters? If none are starters, why would they not suspend them at least half if not the full season?

If they stole in the USA what would their penalty be?

Now, stealing on a trip is much worse. Stealing in China is multiple times worse then just stealing on a trip.

If these guys don't contribute a lot of meaningful minutes which is the only reason (but not excuse) for not suspending them I don't see how they play this season.

Trump should have said he'll get them home but their asses are not playing this year.

I just found when the school PD Busted into the room and found a shite ton of coke in the kids room, he didn't even get suspended a semester.

I don't know how much he had obviously, but if it was for personal use it's not really the schools prerogative to step in, or at least they aren't mandated to.

If he was dealing, that's another thing. I would think he'd be gone.

Not all of them. I know UVA kicks out football players all the time. Caving on the honor code to athletes leaves you open to legal action from regular students that are expelled, I would think.

Why did they get special treatment just because they play Basketball?
bc they help make a lot of money in TV deals...

I'd suspend them for the first part of the schedule...

UVA Football is not UCLA basketball.

Do I think they should be expelled or suspended a semester? yea probably.

Do I think they will? Na.

No, but this is a highly publicized and embarrassing case of stealing, not garden variety academic misconduct.

They should all be expelled, but UCLA really wants that 3rd Ball brother, so they'll all get slaps on the wrist.

Even if LiAngelo gets expelled LaMelo will still go to UCLA.

It really shouldn't be left up to UCLA. This is where the NCAA fails miserably for not having "punishments" for these type offenses. I mean is it fair for UCLA to administer different punishment for what these guy did and if the same thing happened with Alabama and LSU and their punishment is different from UCLA?

What I hate about today's world, these thugs will be allowed to play, receive an education......wait Basketball players do not go to school to get educated

My sentence...10 years,

If not....loss of scholarship, expelled from school, not allowed to play in the NCAA, and the NBA

But of course today's morals are frickef up

I am a witness...you will not be forgotten

The NCAA should not get involved in legal matters, IMO. Different states have different laws, e.g. weed laws, so you can't have a universal rule about breaking local laws applied nationally.
However, in a Utopian world, the University's would step up and do the right thing, but they won't. Too much money on the line with viewers, retail sales, etc.
I fully expect UCLA to not enforce stiff penalties on any of these guys.

If UCLA cares about it's tradition (mainly Wooden legacy) then expulsion is the only correct answer.
Oh wait, this is California we're talking about - that'll never happen. They'll get a few games suspension and hopefully the ire of the rest of the country.

The NCAA handing out "discipline" for illegal wrongs doesn't equal to enforcing laws. I'm pretty sure there is a universal law against theft so why wouldn't the NCAA not want to protect their image of a "clean sports association"?

There are many businesses out there that will fire your arse in a New York second for bringing "shame" to their company regardless of what the law dictates as illegal. Same should apply here. If this is a stain on college basketball then the NCAA should do something to protect that image.

Doesn't seem like a punishment for LiAngelo.

He's been listening to that for the last 18 years

More for the other two.

Hasn't LiAngelo suffered enough already? I mean LaVar is his papa and all

They should be receiving the same punishment in China that any other foreign citizen would have gotten for the same crime. Just because you can bounce and shoot a ball very well, you shouldn't get special privileges.

If not for his name/dad/brothers he's probably at a lower D-1 school.

I'd say he helped him.

Since they cannot be charged in China for their reprehensible actions, they should receive expulsion at the least.

Anyone who says otherwise is merely furthering the awful standards in this country where we treat "celebrities/athletes" differently than the average American.

A normal student would be expelled.

Being "saved" by Trump is punishment enough.

Now imagine if you were one of the three players. Would your sentiment be the same as above?
