anyone hit the Titleist velocity yet?

LONG off the box. Horrible around the greens. Did I mention they felt like a rubber ball off the box.

I play Penta/bridgestone B330s

I used to work at a course and I literally have been playing off of balls I found for the last 3 years. I am about to run out though
Anyway, I told myself I would start playing one type of ball consistently once I had to buy them, I don't need added distance, what I need is a ball I can control well around the greens, and that stop quickly on iron shots, any suggestions? TIA

That's easy man.

You can't go wrong with a tour ball.

If you have super compression off the tee(High swing speed), use a PENTA, PROVx, Callaway Iz, Bridgestone B330. Harder core harder to compress off the box = more distance for faster swing speeds

Looking for super spin or don't have tour swing speed off the box? Use Prov, Callaway Is, Bridgestone B330s. "Softer" core(compared to x, Iz, 330) = longer distance for average to above average swing speed.

Like I said though, all tour balls will give you the spin you're looking for around the green. Just depends on your swing speed to choose "the perfect ball".

If you are not playing a urethane covered ball, then you have had that problem.

Welcome bud. It's refreshing to see someone ask about short game.

Way too many threads about hot driver faces, vaseline/chapstick on the face, the newest irons, etc.

Cuts down on spin, giving you a straighter ball flight.

I cannot spin the X or the 330. Spin the hell out of the 330-S and the regular pro-V1. Not played the new Penta line but loved last year's. May try their cheaper Penta 3-piece and HX Chrome next.

Just bought my first dozen from them, the Callaway tour iz for $8 ($13 with shipping). Balls are in really good condition, but not perfect. I've played my whole life with water balls with occasional purchases of pro v's or similar, so this is a good compromise that is a big upgrade over my usual. Took them to the practice range and compared them to the b330 and b330s. They felt softer on pitches and had significantly more spin on 50-60 yard shots. Haven't taken them to the course yet, but so far so good

I have not purchased a golf ball in two years. I play the balls I find in the rough and the ones that my partner gives me since I allow him to cheat.
