Just saw Shaq lay out how everything is different between the regular season and playoff basketball. What sport do you think plays the game at a much different level during the post season compared to the regular season? (Which is probably not a good thing for fans at all)

Eta: Shaq was referring to intensity, but I guess I'm posing the question more about the quality of play/effort.

NBA in terms of player intensity

Baseball in terms of tactics. 162 vs 1

Hockey

Playoff hockey is the greatest sport to watch even if you don’t know anything about the sport.

It’s the NBA. Rules stop applying and they let players basically rape players like Shaw in the paint.

It’s pathetic in my opinion just like swallowing your whistle in the last two minutes.

If we're going by beards, it's the NHL.

Besides Harden, players actually shave during the NBA playoffs.

Baseball changes the whole strategy when it comes to pitching. Normal starters coming out of the pen.

But basketball is the first time some of these people care in 2 months

I really like the Xs and Os of NFL playoffs and the little wrinkles coaches throw into their game plans but the NBA wins the give a shite category when it comes to reg season to playoffs.

I think football has the least differentiation by a wide margin.

But I can see equal arguments for all three of basketball, hockey, and baseball.

I hate watching regular season but playoff baseball is something to behold when you have 2 equals

I'll also say NBA.

There is a noticeable level of effort and hustle in the playoffs you don't see in most regular season games.

And that's fine, an 82 game regular season is too long for basketball and they'd all be dead if they played at full gear the whole year.

Playoff baseball has the most tension, any pitch can change everything...it seems like every pitch is huge.

The best pitchers are all playing and starting, the lineup has been worked out over a long season.

There's nothing like playoff baseball - you don't even mind if the game is 4 hours.

Baseball regular season is boring as frick but I've always said at it's best, it's very tension-filled best - there's nothing like playoff baseball...an errant pitch, one good swing and fortunes are changed.

Playoff hockey is probably second in excitement and tension.

NBA is 3rd...just like the regular season, a team could be leading by 20 and it might not even mean anything by the 3rd quarter. You still only have to tune in to the last quarter - but that's just basketball, playoffs can't solve that problem...only proper NBA direction and officiating.

Actually, the league has made an effort this playoffs to call the game evenly from 1st-4th. The players are having a bit of a hard time with it because they are used to being able to mug a guy and credit has to go to the refs for calling obvious foul.

If you follow playoff hockey and understand it, the tension in the playoffs is unreal. Feels like you’re on the edge of your seat for two straight months every game. Those guys are out there flying and destroying each other every game. It’s intense.

what you're not saying is that every football playoff game is game 7... That alone makes it more tense than MLB, NBA, and NHL playoffs
