Blues
best logo/unis in the sport, blue collar fans, die hards, who have gone through the pains of never winning a cup. Largest alumni base that in NHL. Players play or leave, but continue to live in st.louis.
Team of good guys, no tootoos or cookes on the team.
Plus, as another mentioned, they haven't won a cup.

Penguins.
A couple of exciting stars (Crosby and Malkin) and a great tradition over the past 20-25 years.

I pull for the Stars. I consider them the "home team" plus all of their games are televised here

I hate to admit this as a CBJ fan, but the Blues would be a very good choice right now (especially if you're already a Cards fan. That just makes it easier).

Do you like annual disappointment?
Do you like all of your young players to drink and bang every intern in the city instead of focusing on the sport?
Do you like an owner who thinks he is bigger than the team?
Do you like soft defense even though they are all 6 foot plus?
Do you like to watch a former MVP age in front of your eyes...
If you do....Rock the Red

The Minnesota Wild as they're loaded and has a lot of seats on the wagon.
Montreal as they are the NHL
The Blue Notes if you're a Cards fan
Washington Capitals if you like losers.

What do people think of the Flyers? Are they considered mediocre? How's that team to follow?

CanFan when you get close to number of Coupe Stanley or the a chance to win it, then show the false history.

The Flyers are like the Mets high dollar under achievers.

Hartford Whalers
I moved to CT in high school so the Whalers became my #2 team. They were never that good but I liked their underdog status.
The way Karmanos went about moving them was really shitty.
and as a Stars fan, I'll be selfish and tell the OP to rep them.

Hey now. I have a lot of relative in Quebec. I have been there several times (great province, and Montreal is the best city in the world). Hell I was an Expos fan up until they died. My love for the Canadiens is not some bandwagoning just because of there history. I have good reason to be a fan of them and any team from Quebec. So no shame on me for being proud of my heritage and rooting for the teams that best represent it.

Flyers are a great team to follow. They have the tradition of the Broad Street Bullies in the 70s when they, let's be honest, ruined hockey. Bobby Clarke was awesome, but this was a team that turned violence into an artform. When Slapshot decried fighting in hockey and tried to proclaim "old time hockey", they were talking about the Flyers. The Flyers seemed to care more about beating people up than winning games.
Dave "The Hammer" Schultz. Read up on 'em.
Now, today's Flyers carry on that legacy, though in the context of skilled hockey. They roll out three attacking lines, and they have one of the best players in hockey in Claude Giroux. But make no mistake, this is Scotty Hartnell kind of team. A guy who can score 30 goals and also rack up 200 PIM.
Great unis. Passionate fans. Cursed goalies since Hextall retired. Really like the Flyers style right now. And I'm one of the few people alive who loves Philly fans. They are intense and don't think losing is cute.
Oh, and the drawback to the Blues is that they are like rooting for the Caps. I'd venture to guess no two franchises are more traditionally similar than the Blues and Caps. Probably the two teams most likely to make you put a gun in your mouth. Look, you could suck anonymously like the Wild or suck impotently like the Habs for the past 20 years -- but the Blues and the Caps are teams that get you right to the precipice before ripping out your heart. Rooting for them makes you hard.
Most people can't do it. But most people are soft. Caps and Blues fans are hard. Most people couldn't do it. Only the loyalists can.

Not an NHL team, but if you want to get NHL news, have Puck Daddy blog and TSN bookmarked.
