Wisconsin is a team that doesn’t have a great recruiting base, but does have an established tradition and can consistently win with big white guys that aren’t necessarily super talented. If Wisconsin can do it, what’s stopping Nebraska from doing it? I mean they won’t compete for titles every year like the 90s, but compared to where they are at now, 10 wins a year seems pretty sweet.

Wisconsin is way closer to fertile recruiting than Nebraska is.

Nebraska academic standards are too low to attract quality student-athletes who want an elite education

Nebraska lost its way when it tried to go spread. The offense they had was perfect for recruiting that area of the country. Instead they tried to change, lost their base, and Wisconsin moved in.

Now they are bad because they don’t know what they want to be. They can’t get good enough players to effectively run the Frost offense, and Frost doesn’t know how to run the old Nebraska offense.

Wisconsin is a Top 50 university and has a good overall athletics department that has invested in all-around success. Nebraska has neither.

Wisconsin decided what kind of program they are and have created a philosophy and culture to go along with a complete program.

They know they aren't going to out recruit the big boys.

They embrace their style, maximize their talent and rely on coaching to get the job done.

The problem with the Nebraskas and Tennesees is they live in a fantasyland land and deny that they aren't what they once were.

They have no real plan, only expectations

Wisconsin does a better job recruiting the offensive line. Nebraska has probably out recruited them everywhere else.

Stability in the coaching staff and they have stuck to their principals. Nebraska after Osborne fired two coaches that were winning consistently then hired a dud.

Wisconsin puts out OL like crazy and they play a style of ball that takes advantage of that.

Nebraska just doesn’t have those in stste players.
