Jeez there’s so many good 1st rd matchups and potentially awesome 2nd rd possibilities. Off the top we’d get a Cleveland/Golden St. 2nd rd series along with Rockets/Thunder. To top it off Rockets/Warriors in the Finals.

The way Silver has been hinting at it I feel it’s gonna happen sooner rather than later.

It kills some awesome playoff rivalries...and I am a fan of a team in te West.

1-16 is an overreaction to the problem that was a crappy Eastern conference.

I hope they talk sense into the Owners and keep 8 each conference. If you do all 16 then give each division winner a top 6 seed

I had this stance for a while but the east has been top to bottom worse for so long. It’s honestly incredible. You would think it would have corrected at some point but it hasn’t

It’s been crappy for 20 years. The idea of seeding by geography (or geographically divided conferences and divisions) is antiquated and doesn’t provide for the most qualified teams or best matchups.

The reason that it saves on travel is antiquated. I don’t think that’s why teams are still aligned. I think it’s just tradition at this point.

The Celtics and Lakers rivalry wouldn’t be what it is had we not had conferences. You can say the same for damn near any rivalry. I think those things drive up fan interest.

Fans of current Eastern Conference teams won’t become more interested by this concept. I don’t think the matchups are THAT much more attractive.

The AFC was the NFC’s bitch for 15 or so years. These things are cyclical.

but it does help with the time zones, Trailblazers tip-off at 7:30 Saturday, if they were matched with Pacers, that's 10:30 tip-off in Indianapolis

Yeah the drawback of all of this would be the Semi Finals would be littered with West teams alienating people on the Eastern side of the country. Would that hurt ratings?

I agree, but what they should really do is seed it 1-16, and let the top 8 seeds choose their opponent from the 9-16 seeds. Everyone wants to throw out the hypothetical "well, it wouldn't be fair if Portland was number 1 and they had to travel to Miami who was number 16" or some nonsense like that. If you let the higher ranked teams choose their opponent from the 9-16 teams you eliminate that excuse.

There is no way to prove that claim.

What's so much more amazing about this first round than the one we have now?

2nd rd series along with Rockets/Thunder.

Like we potentially have now

Off the top we’d get a Cleveland/Golden St

The only reason this is exciting is because of the history of them in the finals. Which if everyone who likes 1-16 had their way years ago even that is out the window because I think both of them have never had the two best records in the league.

What am I missing here?

Bucks don't have the worst record of the 16...

Washington doesn't have the second best record etc...

The Bucks have the worst record of the 16.

The Wizards aren’t on the graphic at all because their record was worse than Denver’s.
