That was such a weak call. The guy is 7’4. Where else is he allowed to move his elbows when he controls the ball?

I do not believe one elbow makes him a dirty player, especially bc he is so young. Young players will do some dumb stuff.

But now he has attention bc of the elbow. It will be with him for awhile and if he does something again, it will be either he is dirty or cant control his emotions.

NBA is in the entertainment business.

He’ll get 1 game suspension, which will add hype to a Game 6, which they hope will be to force a Game 7 back in San Antonio.

Wemby deserved to get ejected. A crash out at that point in the game when the Spurs were doing well was unwarranted regardless of what occured beforehand. Young kid blew up and it cost the team a very winnable game. Leave that to the Julian Champagne of the world not your best player

McDaniels has been fishing for techs/ ejections this entire series. Tried it with Castle in game 3 and failed. Wemby fell right in his trap.

Spurs are the better team but are still so young. Inability to make shots in the 4th quarter has cost us two games. Game 5 is everything and now we are forced to play in Minnesota again.

That being said the referees in this series have 100% been a joke.

How is this that different from Metta World Peace getting suspended like 6-7 games, other than MWP's previous history

As someone who doesn't watch much NBA, playoffs or otherwise, I will offer my perspective

The OKC fans in this thread have been really bad. Yes, this is a dirty play, but one play does not define a person. The other people brought up in this thread are/were repeat offenders to the nth degree.

Absolutely could see this getting a 1 game suspension on top of the ejection. I think he needs to not throw his elbow out like that. Do the Shaq stuff where you keep it close to your body since he gets a good bit of Shaq type treatment from what I've seen.

Wemby an MVP-caliber player and a face of the league, and those types of players are always treated differently.

He’s sick and tired of the no calls and cheap shots against them

One flashpoint moment doesn’t make a player “dirty”

It was a stupid thing to do and he deservedly got ejected.

Get back to me when he’s got a 5 year portfolio of grabbing dudes in the nards, pushing dudes in the back, kicking out and undercutting a shooter’s landing zone, all while doing the “whaaaaat? Me?” look.

That Barry McCockiner meme about thunder fans was spot on.

Ethical basketball means that he doesn’t foul bait.

Which also isn’t really true (coming from a spurs fan)

This is why it was a mistake to trade sochan. That is his bread and butter. Check him into the game and whack him back.

There is no shot Wemby gets suspended sorry guys.

It's 2-2

If entertainment is the basis for the decision, he won't be suspended.

That elbow was worthy of a suspension, no question. He wound up and delivered the blow. He wasn't simply being careless or overaggressive trying to wrestle the ball away. And, his coach openly admitted to it already.

It should be a suspension. I have my doubts. Zero chance it's more than 1 game.

OKC fans know the only team potentially standing between them and a back to back title is San Antonio. That's the entire reason they are trying to gaslight this situation like they don't have Lu Dort and Caruso on their team.

If the NBA wants a return to the 90s Pistons days we certainly have enough people on the team to make that happen. Getting hit in the nuts and elbows to face need to be called fouls regardless of wether it's "playoff basketball" or not. Had it been this mess wouldn't have happened.

Wemby ejection was enough in my opinion, but he'll only have himself to blame if the NBA goes further than that.

Wemby will not be suspended or fined.

Game 5 good to go. Spurs need a win but this is the right decision.

Him not getting fined at a minimum is wild. What a crazy precedent for Silver to set. Apparently you can now look at a guy, wind up, connect an elbow, follow through and not be fined

Wow, thats pretty blatant front office is protecting its newest star and TV ratings.

Imagine the TWolves fans knowing how many players suspended all season. They must be livid.

League wants a SAS vs OKC WCF, and this is proof. They couldn’t risk SA losing with Wemby out. This was a business decision not a sporting decision

They’re bandwagon fans who don’t really have faith in their team. Nobody who has confidence begs for the league or other teams to take opponents out for them because they’re terrified to face them at full force. These posters are cowards.
