Warren Capone

I interviewed him for a job a few years ago and still have his resume somewhere in my Outlook.

I've never met Sid Edwards, but IMO it's a safe bet that if it comes down to the face to face interview's Warren comes in third.

fwiw sid at catholic would be pretty dangerous. I don't see CHS doing it though

Little Weiner would be a very good hire as well. He's a great coach and should have gotten the redem job years ago.

The best was my freshman year (1999 season), when we beat them 3-0 on a blocked FG. That was a badass game. Stopped them four times at the goal line.

It was actually five times. We had a personal foul on the first 1st and goal from the one. Moved the ball a foot and half forward and started over at 1st and one.

I'll never forget that game. I got pushed over the brick wall after we stopped them on fourth and goal from the rest of the student section coming down on me.

Yeah, WM did the most damage, but CHS has also dropped trips up there to Ouchita Christian and Neville in previous Bear era playoff runs..

That town and it's teams are CHS-BR Kryptonite..always have been.

St Amant was still great then, Dutchtown had yet to steal their kids fully?

I know STA and CHS had some really epic games while I was in school at STA. I cant remember if it was 94 or 95 but I think we played CHS twice that year. Lost in the regular season and won in the playoffs. Could be the other way around lol but all I remember is the amazing atmosphere. It seemed like a big time SEC game.

ahhh the good ole days.. .before DHS. STA will never be the same.

Capone doesn't take this in a cake walk. Two time All-American at LSU and has a good relationship with Miles. Catholic puts no one at LSU now. Capone has two Super Bowl rings so he maintains his tie there. Plus the Catholic Alums love Warren and do not like Sid. I think it is Capone's to lose.

I've heard that Sid was not in good graces at CHS but never got an explanation on it.

The other was the beatdown WM gave us 35-0. Bradie James was a BEAST

This season CHS had maybe the best defense in their History. They gave up like 50 points the whole season (not including WM) if Im not mistaken. A CHS record I beleive. That shows how good that WM team really was by putting up 35 on that Defense.

Catholic was a victim of Bad Luck IMO in 98 and in 96. They drew WM both times in the Semifinals....and noone was beating WM those years.

Catholic should have been in the dome both of those years, and if WM was on the other side of the bracket...they would have been in the dome both years. But thats how it falls sometimes.

Catholic-BR is managed far differently now than Catholic BR from the 90s when Sid was running BREC and funneling kids to his CHS-BR freshmen football team. Some of the kids that he attracted to CHS-BR back then probably wouldn't get past the admissions office today. And I am NOT talking about Minor/Franklin/Dunn either.

Frankly it wouldn't surprise me at all if CHS-BR went in a completely different direction and went to an outside hire. They are so hung up on their academic profile and their admissions system that it would shock me if they hired a local with a reputation for recruiting outside their feeder system. For every kid that comes in from outside the feeder school system and plays there is another kid and his parents that are pissed off that he is sitting on the bench.

Rumor is, he is trying to position his son, Neal, into the head coaching position. Anybody else got the scoop?

He's holding out on a deal to appoint all the Garidel boys as his assistants.
