We will find out soon how much Lebron is concerned with Legacy

He could pretty much guarantee he wins the next three years by signing with the Lakers for $17,500,000 per year. Half the amount he could sign for. He would make that up easily in endorsements.
This leaves $20,000,000 for Leonard in a trade and $30,000,000 for George.
Afterwards the Lakers would still have
Ingram, Hart, and Zubac all signed for $7,500,000 leaving $26,000,000 to fill the roster instead of $8,000,000 if he signs for the max.
The Lakers could split that $26,000,000 between DeAndre Jordan $14,000,000, Avery Bradley $4,000,000, Elfrid Payton $4,000,000, and Marcus Smart $4,000,000.
This would give them
PG: Ingram
SG: George
SF: Leonard
PF: James
C: Jordan
Bench: Smart, Bradley, Hart, Payton, and Zubac.
Team would be exceptional on defense and with James, George, Ingram, and Leonard would be very capable of scoring when needed.

MJ never settled for half less than what he was worth.

Brandon Ingram is not a point guard

Marcus Smart $4,000,000.
What is the incentive for Smart to take 1/4-1/2 of what he could get ?

he was pretty good at it this year

The average NBA salary is 5.7 million and all three of these guys are taking significantly less for what reason?

Pippen was 3rd in mvp voting and then signed a deal for lije 4 million a year
ETA: Pippens salary with the bulls was 2.7 million

yep. MJ helped develop draft talent and didn't run them off.

You're going to trust the judgement of a flat-earther?

1. Ingram proved he is very good at point guard. He would be a tough matchup at point guard for the Warriors - Only team the Lakers would worry about with that big three other than the Pelicans or Boston.
2. James signing for half would free up the salary to build a complete roster year one that beats the Warriors. James, George, and Leonard already laugh at the Rockets.
3. Lebron is 33 with maybe 3 great years and probably 3 more good years after that. He is 3-6 in the finals. If he can get to 6-6 in the finals he goes down as the best ever. That for him could be worth leaving $17,000,000 on the table. He knows that George and Leonard are two of the best two way players in the league but the Warriors also have chemistry and four all stars plus a solid cast of support. The Lakers would need atleast three more solid players to compete. One of which needs to be an athletic center. Jordan has always played well against the Warriors. Yes they foul him but his defense will outweigh that.

Pippen's issue was he valued security, so he locked himself into a 7 year 22 mil deal. When he signed it, it was top 15 in the league.
7 years later, it was peanuts. He wanted 7 guaranteed years, and it was because he'd grown up dirt poor and wanted security.
Then salaries blew up and he was locked into a terrible deal.
