No, I just think you’re wrong. When Ohtani got hurt, PCA was having a better year at the plate. One is an elite pitcher, one is the best defensive player in baseball.

Dudes got 8 HR in the 2nd 1/2. It’s 25pts, not 40. Alvarez has been pretty good in the second half. He’s worn out from carrying that raggedy arse team in his back. He’s a great hitter

I'll say this - he's the best player this year and it's not close. Folks that don't watch the Cubs don't know he's also a generational defender in centerfield as well as an upper tier base stealer in addition to being the best hitter in baseball this year.
Now I won't say he's the best player on the planet just yet based on one year, but he's only 24 and has already shown he can make big adjustments to improve his game.
So, for my friend WCA who says PCA "is not even close" to being the best player - he absolutely is close.

Aaron Judge is the best player in baseball:
-Hit for percentages? Check - when healthy, bats >.300
-Hit for power? Check - DONG after DONG
-Arm Strength? Check - one of the most accurate and hard throwing arms in baseball. Might have the best arm for a non-pitcher
-Fielding? Check. Did not commit an error for more than three years. He is the King of robbing homeruns and basehits.
-Baserunning? Check. Rarely is caught stealing - could steal more (30+ SBs is definitely possible if he wanted to)
-Leadership? Check - Captain of the Yankees - team is playing well due to his leadership
-Consistency? Check. Big Dumper, Shohei, PCA can all have great years, but Judge has a great year EVERY year.
