They’re also 0-1 against SEC teams who lost to Georgia State.

I don’t know that for sure. Vanderbilt was a decent team this year. Still a horrendous loss for bama but smu could absolutely lose to vandy with pavia controlling clock and making plays. Vandy has better line than smu. Smu better skill players and certainly could beat them and would be favored. But it would be a good game. Not sure oh smu would kill vandy. They wouldn’t kill OU either. Smu played nobody at all and was getting destroyed by average Clemson and granted had a great comeback when Clemson was coasting to early and it was exciting but they couldn’t get the W

Clemp would split road games at Vandy and OU I’ll give them that. Wouldn’t win at lsu would win at TN obviously can’t beat Georgia like bama can’t beat Carolina like bama. Not sure they would beat Missouri like bama but maybe.

And yet the ACC teams they played in the regular season went 2-1 vs the mighty SEC.

Regular season. Clemson was 0-2. Who were the ACC 2 wins I can’t think off top of my head.

This is completely irrelevant

I hate Bama as much as anyone but had LSU been in this position it’d, the rant would be melting about possibly not getting in. We’ve shite on the ACC all year and they are a garbage conference. SMU has no top 25 wins.

I’ve seen people mention going back to the BCS system to determine who gets playoff births. If that was the case, Bama would be in as an at large.

Bama lost to mother fricking Vanderbilt and a baboon shite fricking Oklahoma team. That in itself is enough to be left out of the playoff. This is an easy easy decision. Bama can only blame themselves.

You’re right we can only blame ourselves if we don’t. But smu can only blame themselves as well by losing to a worse than Oklahoma if both in same conference byu team and not closing the deal vs an Arkansas level Clemson team

6th place ACC team took SEC champ to 8 OTs. Needed an all time screw job by officials to pull of win

Bama leads in every major metric:
FEI: Bama
FEI Offense: Bama
FEI Defense: Bama
Best Win: Bama (UGA who murdered Clemson)
Top 25 Wins: Bama
SOS: Bama

The only rational argument for SMU is defending the sanctity of the conference championship game.

But did that save UGA last year?

Nope, even in the SEC they were knocked out for losing a competitive conference championship game.

Bubble conference teams have been knocked out of consideration since the dawn of the CFP based on conference championship games in smaller conferences, because there is no selection criteria protecting those teams currently.

The posters on here also don’t care that putting a team with a SOS in the 70s and no wins in the playoffs will permanently put the entire SEC at a massive disadvantage moving forward in a CFB landscape where conference discrepancies in quality have never been more apparent than right now and they’ll be telling everyone around that no longer matters.

But if you’re expecting rational discussion here forget it because for 90% of the posters the only thing that matters is having something bad happen to Bama so they can troll.

Most of them would rather see something bad happen to Bama than something good happen to their team.

If South Carolina (who should be going to the playoffs instead of IU) were on the bubble it’d be a totally different take.

But it’s Bama so the insecurity trumps rationality and here we are.

SEC always being gifted hypothetical wins

Meanwhile an Arkansas level team named… Arkansas… lost to… checks notes… a 3-9 Oklahoma State out of that same Big 12 BYU plays in.
