Russ kept sliding feet first WAY early last night and I called my dad and said what the heck is he doing? He’d EASILY pick up these first downs diving head first into empty space and it would be a whole lot safer for him.

There are dirtier hits every week. I am not going to try and say it was massively dirty or something.
But celebrating after the hit and seeing the result? Absolutely fricking despicable.

Watch the hit, he was reckless. He went for his head with his shoulders. He was completely upright too when Dante slid.
Oregon players have clearly targeted as well and it’s going to happen, so no one is upset about the hit itself.

Yeah I’m not saying it shouldn’t have been flagged or that his reaction afterwards wasn’t disgusting. Just that the hit itself wasn’t really avoidable in and of itself.

Do I think he could have avoided this? Yes. Do I think it’s difficult to do this when you are thinking hit hit hit tuning 20 mph and someone else running 20 mph to make this decision to then not hit this fast ? Yes

Yes, he was trying to hit the football player running in the open field going for a first down…..
His actions after the play were thug POS, but him hitting a you running for a first down is pretty much football

The rules have changed. I loved me some Ronnie Lott but we’re not in that era.
I also think the rule is gonna cause some unfortunate ejections.
The same thing happens if I’m at the wrong place at the wrong time going thru an intersection with a red light camera.
