re: Vrabel Files - part 56 - on a boat with pregnant Russini

I think the big difference is how the athlete wants to be portrayed. Lots of these coaches preach ethics, professionalism, doing things the right way, as they are “leaders of men.” It’s hypocritical to then go out and start boning pregnant women or some married broad.
It’s like athletes preaching about social issues, then turning a blind eye when it’s convenient.
On the contrary, some random diva wide receiver doing this shite won’t register as much if that’s been their MO the whole time. To me, that’s what makes this Vrabel stuff even worse.

I just cant think of a more emblematic video of modern sports culture than this one where Patriots fans give Mike Vrabel a standing ovation.
Is this really some sort of "modern attitude"? Or is it just a case of more information, videos, photos being available to more people because of modern technology. Coaches and players having questionable morals is not a new phenomenon.
Hell, and I say this as an LSU fan, THIS statue is featured prominently outside of Tiger Stadium, along with the player's number being the only retired number in program history...despite the fact he was a convicted felon:

People hate the government so they're not going to care as much about a money counterfeiting scheme

I don’t want to compare crimes, but Cannon’s counterfeit scheme wasn’t wrecking some other dude’s life in the media on the daily. There was also an element of redemption for him prior to the statue going up.

That's good...because Vrabel hasn't committed a crime.

Vrabel didn't go public with any of this.

There was.
I'm not saying Vrabel isn't deserving of public ridicule. Nor am I saying Cannon's statue should be removed. He should be recognized for his football accomplishments, not his personal life...that included a federal conviction and prison sentence. I'm just pointing out that sports fans have LONG ignored the misgivings of players/coaches. So while yes, Vrabel is a scumbag for caring on an affair as a married man, the reactions calling for his firing and acting like the support of NE fans is some anomaly in sports history are ridiculous.

You’re not wrong, but I think it shows our flaws as a society. If I did what Vrabel did, I would be reassigned quickly. Because he coaches a game and our society historically allows for bad morals, we should continue to do so? frick that. I’ve been in Russini’s husband’s spot. I hope Vrabel gets buried. frick him and her both.

Russini is a monster. There's no depth of hell suitable for her.

Agreed. Vrabel is obviously a scumbag but that woman is the crazy chick people write and do movies about!
