Hey guys. U are 0-0 but the other team is also 0-0 and are 1st y'all are second.

Yea that teaches life isn't fair. It teaches the people who run that league are morons. I'd bitch too if that was my son or daughter.

Wow, just wow. I umpired a travel tournament at that age before. First and last time. They way the parents acted took all the fun out of it for me. The only ones the cared about the trophies were the parents. The kids didn't care, they were just having fun playing the game.

No, b/c all the rec. kids DON'T show up for practice/games and don't play b/c they love the game of baseball. They think playing a sport is showing up twice a week for 3 weeks (practice) prepares you for a skilled game. They may show up for a 6p game at 555, let's be real about the situation. Rec was a big part of our lives (40+ crowd), but it's a thing of the past, just like the land line phone. As far as the "daddy" coached teams, well I'm sure no rec. teams have fathers coaching, let's be honest.

Or maybe they just want to have a little fun in the summer playing baseball, and then enjoy doing other things the rest of the year.

I've coached softball in the rec league also coached
All-Stars as a head coach and assistant coach and
I can tell you there are some freakin dumbazz parents
who think there kid is the next coming of Babe Ruth. The parents are a problem at every level. Let the kids play and
let the coaches coach.

Link?

Runs allowed is not the first tiebreaker. Did all the other teams have a loss?

Also, we play both usssa and grandslam. Grandslam is more expensive in BR and they charge a gate at cypress.

Nicaragua is now a baseball hotbed.....wow...

Utrip changed its name to United States specialty sport assoc years ago..

1st may have also been awarded based on points and or class prior to tourney...

Doesn't make it right...

If no bracket games were played....nobody should be placed...

I umpire a lot of utrip tourneys now... I have never heard of them awarding seeds if a tournament was cancelled before all the teams got their pool play games in. Sounds to me like the tournament director fricked up.

8 yr old travel teams.....

The best part is when you sit in the stands and hear these parents lecture others on how to "tell their kids, NO!"

If you are traveling this state with a 8 yr old, you are an idiot.

Based on what evidence? The greatest players of all time played 20 games a summer likely....name me one pro player that attributes success to playing "competition" as a kid?? These kids develop mostly when they get to HS, and then travel ball is over....go ahead and rationalize blowing your money and time if you want, I see kids all the time for good HS programs that played very little if any travel ball.

This is correct....
I'm not saying I was great by any means, but I played in college and obviously know many guys who have and not a single damn one of them played ball year round. That's fricking retarded. Let the kid play the sports that are in season and quit ruining the kids arm. Throwing a baseball is about as unnatural a motion there is.... There is a reason there is an offseason and there is a reason pitchers/catchers show up early. To ease into throwing again. Arms need rest and just b/c your kid doesn't pitch doesn't mean anything.
I played ball in college and I spent 6yrs working in an ortho group. One of which was a child specialist... It isn't good to do this with your kids. They don't have the strength in their soft tissues to handle the stress... Tendons and ligaments being major areas of concern.

I absolutely love the game baseball and have been really excited for my young son to play once he gets older.

But this entire thread makes me grateful I'm not dealing with it now.

USSSA is a joke. I know from experience. If you want your kid to start hating baseball, sign him up for one of these leagues.

Parents are terrible. Coaching is terrible. It really is a negative all around.

But their parents don't get upset if they don't come home with a trophy after visiting Gramdma in North Carolina. I've heard it so many times "We don't play rec ball where everyone gets a trophy", but a lot of those same parents sure do get bent out of shape if a call doesn't go their teams way costing them a shot at these same plastic trophies. And USSSA IS a money grab first and foremost. It is a business to them. Call me crazy, but you should not be able to play in a World Series without winning your way there. It would be like the CWS having a "buy in" amount you could pay to go to Omaha.

Meh. I'm watching my little brother go through it right now and between my two brothers and I, I have more experience than most.
