USSSA is far, far better than Little League.

That's because they'd all be 14 year olds playing 11 year olds. And I believe you mean the Dominican Republic, not Nicaragua.

And also, no.

You've just made the case for "travel ball" right here. Those 3rd world kids are so good b/c all they do is play ball. Regardless if they have a stick and an old racquetball, or $500 worth of equipment, they're developing skills thru repetition. You don't think those kids play ball in a dirt lot once or twice a week for three weeks, then play a few games and call it quits for the year do you ? No, they play all year against equally skilled kids, that's why they're so good.

Of course they're a joke, they have three S's. They're practically a lisp.

Two years ago two hand picked from the DR came he to play on a local team...at times they stuck out. Others they did not....

One will likely sign when he is 16... They were playing 13 majors.

If anyone thinks they were playing with bare feet and sticks back home u are sadly mistaken

Its 9 year olds why does it matter who gets a trophy or wins and loses, I would be more upset about the missed game reps.

Did you see one of 30 MLB training academies?

Part of the reason why the Dominican Republic’s weak economy hasn’t prevented its youngsters from developing their baseball abilities is because of MLB’s extensive investment into the country’s baseball infrastructure. Presently, all 30 MLB clubs have baseball training academies in the Dominican Republic. These academies not only groom players’ baseball skills, but oftentimes include an educational component with many players living on site in dormitories. MLB teams began investing in Dominican baseball academies in the 1980s and in recent years, a handful of teams have spent a significant amount of money upgrading or building new facilities. Most recently, the Seattle Mariners broke ground on a new $7 million, 24-acre baseball training academy.

Haven't seen those. But once upon a time PFC GeauxxxTigers23 stood watch on the Guantanamo Bay fenceline keeping the commie hoards at bay. There was a small town on the Cuban side of the fence. I would watch the little kids play ball all day with my super awesome binoculars. They were good, real good.

Yep, they gave us a week off and the options were a flight to Norfolk VA or Rosy Roads. I went to Puerto Rico and got drunk.

I got picked up by the po po in Norflok a week after I got back from GTMO for partying to hard. That got me second award PFC. I still think I owe the commonwealth of Virginia about 400 bucks for the fine. They ain't ever gonna see that money.

Tournament in Hammond and it was called due to rain today so they awarded the tropheys by seeds.

The team who won one of the 9 years old bracket was 0-0 and declared the winners. Last night they did not get a chance to play their pool games because of rain, so they were ranked #1 because 0 runs scored against them. Of course they had 0 runs against them they didn't play.

the only 9 year old bracket in Hammond that I can see is the AAA 9's and looks like to me they played all the games.

Today, the tourney was called before they could play their first game, so since they were the #1 seed when the tourney was called they were awarded 1st place.

I have a hard time believing this is true.

Vood never responded when I asked for a link...a 0-0 team can never be 1st unless everyone else has a loss.. runs allowed is not the 1st tiebreaker....apparenlty he is one of these big time Grand Slam supporters... neither USSSA or GrandSlam are perfect.. they both have issues... we play both
