It's not just that.

One of my main objections to travel ball and the damage/destruction it can mean for rec ball is that rec ball is the only opportunity some kids have. Poor and minority kids are being left out, at least where I live.

Rec ball just means something for the community, and select ball cannot replace that.

As someone that was a huge and I mean huge advocate of rec ball and very anti travel ball until last year....frick them people. I put up with it for a long time, dedicating my time to those kids only to watch parents treat me and my wife like shite, watch parents act like my time didn't matter and it was only something to do if nothing better was going on. Watched parents bitch while I couldn't beg people to coach or even help.

frick the whiny arse poor and minority kids. Those parents were the same ones growing up that made fun of kids paying attention in school, now they want to whine about ......my poor kid is getting left behind because we can't afford it, we'll frick em...now it's my turn to make fun of them for being poor.

I still give hours a week to the tball league, anything above that, they can frick off. 7-8 the parents become unbearable. Yes I'm jaded and bitter as I gave everything I could to so many and still do and all I have heard and seen is bitching especially on Facebook, yet I can't find coaches every year. All from people that can't even spell baseball much less tell you how to properly field, throw or bat. frick em.

There is no doubt that U-Trip and the other organizations are a business that looks to maximize profits.

It is also true that, in general, tournament baseball and the teams/organizations involved will provide a more conducive environment for player development.

BOTH can be true at the same time.

The really sad part is that right now there is a “turf war” in Baton Rouge between U-Trip and Perfect Game. And it is absolutely affecting the quality of tournaments being offered locally, which hurts the kids who are stuck in the middle of this nasty business.

Turf war that pg and 2d will win due in the long run due to putting on a better tournament.

In the end though, doesn't matter which org, it's about the kids doing the following

1) have fun and yes burnout and over use injury should be a huge concern, right organization and you don't have that problem. Be a good parent and monitor it and find coaches who are turatworthy and follow the safe pitch guidelines.

2) be a good teammate. Be a good parent and make sure your kid is another a shite head teammate and learns to work with others, support others and learn to win and lose properly. Teach them to encourage teammates and to understand their will always be slackers.

3) hard work leads to success both individually and as a team. Every person has the desire to win, but those that do are the ones that have the desire to do what it takes to prepare to win.

4) every play is a battle and a chance to get better. The goal is to do what ever you can to win your individual battle every play. Won't win them all, but you have to focus on the small things.

What many in here are talking about is simply due to bad organizations. I have one high level player and one that can barely make a AA team. I don't care, I want them to learnt eh things I listed above. I'm not gonna allow a coach to abuse my kid either.

We do lots of lessons but we also do lots of pre-hav stuff and lots of strength training to go. My kids also play mutiple sports, along with baseball. We made sure to choose organizations that allow and encourage it.

I encourage any and every father to learn strength and conditioning, especially for younger kids. Learn for your child and their development. Learn what constitutes safe pitch guidelines and track pitches your self during games. Learn how many pitches a catcher should do before taking a break. Learn proper throwing mechanics so you can keep your kid healthy.

Many of the complaints in this thread comes down to lack of knowledge by parents.
