Not only that, GN had a way better career than JM but he hasn't harped on it near as much or not at all...unlike Johnny. By now we would have heard him talk about the putting style he invented that Matt Kuchar has adopted multiple times along with him referring back to his final round 63.

I like Chambers Bay. I'd like it better if it was green, and so would the majority of its detractors.
That would help.
The slopes are crazy. I want their to be thick rough. That's what the US Open is all about.
ETA: And greens that don't make the ball bounce all over the place

I get that but hell if put together a lush green course in Scotland surely they can do it in Washington. Pretty similar climate.

I thought the entire course was fescue including the greens?

Do you ever just go to Winn Dixie and buy one of those as like a meal?
Worth it.

FWIW Chambers Bay can look pretty lush at times

Greens are a mix. Poa Annua is basically a weed. We try to kill it here in the south.

Isn't this the area of the country that gets 100 inches of rain per year? Seems like water would not be an issue but maybe it's their dry season of something.

That's Jones Jr. taking a play from his dad. Reese is a little more independent.

BR gets more rain per year than Seattle.

At least the announcers aren't having a contest on how many times they can sag the name of the grass like Nantz and Faldo with the "cucullia grass" nonsense every year

His dad designed Santa Maria, correct?
Posted on 6/19/15 at 10:30 pm to BayouBengals03
Yea. SM is a RTJ design and honestly the least sloped greens I've played on a course designed by him.
Reese is better than Jr, IMO.

Really need the cut line to reach +5.
Posted on 6/19/15 at 10:36 pm to Golfer
I saw that jimmy Roberts deal about them the other day...had no idea that they didn't get along...interesting family. I wonder if RTJ paid off somebody to get this open. Seemed like it was handed to him basically.

Yea they don't talk. Not sure about paid off, but USGA is making a push to play this at more public and/or new courses.

Cut could move to five if Nick Hardy plays his last two holes in +1
Definitely possible.
