Weird he didn’t tell the truth at media days if he reported it.
The most important part is he reported it. Lol at anyone acting like lying to the media is a bigger deal.

i didn't say anything about him breaking an NCAA rule or lying to the NCAA, did I? I just commented on the man's moral compass is all.
here's some more gems from Urb:
don't remember any Bible verses in Sunday School about it being okay with the big man upstairs for one to accept another man beating his wife.
wonder if he'd intervene his granddaughter(s) getting the ever living shite beat out of them.
your family. but not innocent pregnant women you know. got it.
how deeply did you care about a member of your coaching staff leaving bruises, cuts, and scars on his wife (a friend of your wife)

“Non-negotiable is I start my day with a Bible study that Tim Kite puts on that I have to do that.”

“2015 — I got a text late last night that something happened in 2015, and there was nothing. I don’t know who creates a story like that,” Meyer said.

He's setting the stage to resign IMO.
He’s setting the stage to get some money out of this by implicating others at the university.
His statement still doesn’t address why Smith was still on staff. Even if he did run it up the chain of command, he ultimately is responsible who is on his staff. I know assistants who’ve not been retained for petty stuff. This guy is a serial batterer of the mother of his children. No explanation can justify why he was on staff the past 3 seasons.

Positive change agents?
That just makes me want OSU to consciously uncouple with him.

The guy flat out denied it at media days and now wants to say he just wasn't prepared for the questions. That's a bunch of bull.
If he has records of reporting the situation to the administration, then I think he'll skate. If not, he's definitely getting fired.

What makes me feel like I'm taking crazy pills is everyone skewering Urban Meyer when they should be destroying Zach Smith.

I guess. He may have just been covering for him and didn’t want to say anything bad about an ex assistant. I think it is just as simple as that.
This is a nothingburger

This really seems logically overblown by the media.
Meyer says he doesn't know about any incidents in 2015 at Big Ten media days.
McMurphy releases his article that makes it pretty clear Shelley Meyers knew about it, and it's not a stretch to think Urban would have known.
If he knew and didn't report it, its a violation of OSU's sexual misconduct policy. That would have been a pretty big deal.
If he did report it, which he insinuates in this statement, then he should be fine, but his lie at media days is perplexing.

This is setting up to be one of the biggest overreactions in msb history
Urban may only have lied to the media. It’s stupid but that isn’t shite

"I can't say it didn't happen because I wasn't there," he said, according to the Associated Press' Ralph D. Russo. "I was never told about anything and nothing ever came to light. I've never had a conversation about it. I know nothing about it. First I heard about that was last night. No, and I asked some people back at the office to call and say what happened and they came back and said they know nothing about it."
Lol, this is such BS by him. That isn't a remark said by someone that never thought it would ever be a big deal. He was surprised they found out and F'd up.

You may be right, but I wouldn't take one statement released by the person in the limelight as truth.
He apologized, hoping it blows over through the weekend.
It'll be a looooong weekend for everyone in Columbus though.

Yeah, if he reported it to the AD or something, worst case is he didn't report it to HR and/or the Title IX coordinator and he gets slapped on the wrist like MacIntyre at Colorado.
I see a $250k donation to a domestic abuse non-profit coming soon.

If he reported it like he said, not sure they can fire him with cause.

t's saying he wasn't clear and was abrasive to the reporter, which he was. He took it personally and messed up.
No doubt about that.
I have a feeling he didn't "technically" lie but held back information that would have shed more light on the situation.
I don’t believe that for a second. No one in his position, with all the experience he has dealing with the press “messes up” that badly in a moment where he has to be aware that what he says at that point is extremely important.
I don’t know if he should be fired, reasonable people can debate that, but what’s clear is that Urban is full of crap.

He doesn’t insinuate he reported it, he explicitly states he did good enough for me we’ll see if the OSU investigation and records corroborate it and then proceed forward. Nevertheless, can’t make flippant comments like that at media days, Urban.
