They aren't officially out, but they aren't very much in it either. According to the playoff machine they have a 6% chance of making the playoffs, so they will have to win and have everything hit just right like a 12 team parlay.

A rookie, eventually. Whether that's this year, or they bring in a stopgap vet for a year or two, eventually it will be a rookie .

I think Payton is dying to finally get a first round QB.

Wow, Peyton stuck with Russ long enough to show he could win with him. He got so much shite for his comment about Hackett he had to prove it before moving on.

Uh, they are 7-8. I wouldn't describe that as winning.

I wonder if there is a used Carr we can interest him in.

How is he going to get that with no first round picks?

True but Wilson and the whole team look a lot better than last year.

Benching your starting quarterback who is healthy for the purpose of tanking, that's not something I thought that I would see.

I don’t think Payton has any idea what he wants to do with this team or how to effectively lead it. I think he felt like he would just come in, things would click, and he and Russell Wilson would be magic like he was with Brees. That didn’t happen and now the whole franchise is in a rut and is unsure of what lies ahead. They got a little hope when they had that winning streak, but with that gone, everyone realizes that this season was far from what they expected.

They aren't tanking. They are preventing Wilson from getting injured so they can cut him.

Peyton has seen enough of Wilson to know he needs to go. Wilson needs a strong defense and a strong running game in order to win. Peyton needs a QB who can actually carry the team.

Wilson has $37M that becomes guaranteed if he can't pass a physical in the offseason.

This. Don't want to get him hurt, so they have to pay that huge load. BTW, didn't Russ come in and demand his own office and some more bullshite? What a douche, and the Broncos were worse for letting it happen.

They want to make NBA players play when healthy… why not Russell Wilson? No one will want to watch the backup

People spend big money for tickets and travel and deserve to see teams trying their best to win

The Broncos can outright release Wilson by March 17, but doing so would actually result in a loss of $49.6M in 2024. Denver is already projected to be at least $18M over the 2024 cap, so cutting him straight-up wouldn't be logical.
