This kid is going to find out the hard way. No one is going to trust him to live up to his word. Dude is getting drug all over X.
Odds he is working at a Buc ee’s or Costco 4 years from now.

If this player was promised more money by another school and asked UNLV for more after the fact, this player's character is flawed because you didn't like the original negotiated "salary" you were to be paid. Good riddance.
Are NFL players’ characters flawed because they hold out when they outperform their contracts? It’s a dangerous sport, get every penny you can while you still have your health, and strike when your iron is hot
Maybe this is why other conferences don’t want UNLV… they can’t financially compete at a higher level if this is what happens

Yes. If you sign a contract under your own free will, you honor it.
If you do not, you are most decidedly lacking in character.

When is the last time an nfl player started holding out midseason because they had a few good games early in the season?
Off-season is one thing, even if it’s yearly….but letting players dictate changes week to week based on play is truly crossing the rubicon.

You’d have a a point if the players actually signed contracts that were binding

Who is claiming this is what is happening? Most likely this is Jaden Rashada 2.0. They promised him X amount. They didn't have enough to give him. He realizes this and quits. If your job promised you X amount and didn't live up to it, you would quit too.

MFer is only completing 43% of his passes. Absolutely dreadful.
No one is picking this asshat up. Been in college 5 years and only has 65 passing TDs and 16 picks.
Running back that passes the ball.

Are we sure that’s what is actually going on here?
Or did the university make promises to get him there, not follow through because he’s on his final season of eligibility and he called their bluff.
If you look at this through the prism of NIL, your question makes sense.
If you look at this through the prism of what is loved about college football and what it once was, your question is moot because this is a disaster in that regard.
You are on a plane and it's crashing.

This looks like his D should be getting paid.

This is dumb.
Players can use that as leverage, but there is a cost and they have to play enough games to accrue the year of service. They are fined and they aren't paid for games they don't play.
They can't just decide to be a free agent. It doesn't work like that.

Yeah college football is dead
Athletics. This can happen with mens' and women's basketball too, anywhere there is NIL.
Might have to just support baseball and other olympic sports if you want to have ones not impacted by NIL.

I know almost everyone feels like they have to throw out their immediate opinion, but I feel like this is one where more info is gonna clear up how I feel about this.
If he’s searching for more money, gtfo and I hope he never plays a down for another college program.
If he’s not properly compensated what he was promised, I totally get it. If our jobs stopped paying us, most of us would probably quit as well.
I’m intrigued at what comes out over the next few days/weeks here.

No sport will not be impacted by NIL
Even if it’s tennis or golf or women’s gymnastics or basketball or soccer, the best college players will be worth paying for the exposure they bring in college and their future pro careers, and they’ll transfer to the places that will do so

Verbally promised money but didn’t get it in writing. Sounds like he needs a new agent. He fricked himself. You’ll never win a he-said she-said battle over a verbal promise
