It's effectively a pay increase and adds two extra years to his deal. He will be paid $550k/year. I could be wrong, but I believe that is tops in the SBC. He has only made 1 tournament appearance in his 9 years.

Personally, I thought they might part ways with him if he had a bad season, which he's struggling with currently.
I thought Maggard was no longer accepting mediocrity in their programs. He hit a home-run with the Napier hire, I expected him to be eager to get his man installed in one of the big two money makers.

I've heard rumblings that he possibly lowered Marlin's buyout in the new deal, but I haven't seen details.

Marlin is adequate, but they could do much better IMHO.

That is a really nice job in the right hands.

Pretty good league, good facilities, good fan support

Marlin's recruiting has recently gotten much better. I'll see if there's a real uptick or just an outlier.

not every league can be "pretty good".

This is a classic ULL fan over evaluating what ULL is. It's a lowly league with average fan support. The Cajundome is nice though.

Honestly it seems like a smart move by ULL's AD. They can lock down a good coach for a fair contract.

I wish we’d just pay a basketball coach $150k a year and disperse the savings to football and baseball.

Marlin isn’t worth $500k+, and with the Sunbelt being a one-bid conference, who cares about RPI and 20+ regular season wins.

frick that guy. His credibility went out the window when he tried to shite on the LSU basketball program by taking shots at the team’s schedule, the facilities and the PMAC.

UL’s baseball coach is a class act and deserves respect for what’s done there but their basketball coach is a total frick. Napier seems like a decent guy too and is a Saban product. Bob Marlin is a joke.

Funny how attitudes change over time. I bet you wouldn't have said that around 2002.

LSU obviously has bigger fish to fry. No need to get hung up on little little brother crying for attention.

AD Maggard is a very heady athletic director. He substantially lowered the buyout all the while increasing expectations. Marlin will probably be fired by 2020-21 season.

Will Wade is in deep doo doo. The FBI probe has a very very wide net. The NCAA was told to stand down until the FBI completes its investigation and moves forward with its case.

Many, many people have implicated Wade and it is more than just smoke.

But back to the Cajuns, Bobby Big Fish is not a good fit for the program. It’s too good of a job for a coach of his stature and personality. It’s timw for him to go.
