Max vs Connor (July 11th) winner VS Justin will be my guess as the retirement money fight.

quote:

He's never doing this again.

"I can't afford it," White said. "I'll never do the Sphere again, and we'll never do this again."

quote:

White declined to provide specifics but indicated UFC hit the numbers it sought for its $60 million production.

quote:

"F--- 'em. I don't give a s--- about them," White said. "It's like when they were asking me about the lawsuit. I don't give a s---. I got lawyers. They'll figure that out. I don't care."

White called the main event, where Justin Gaethje upset Ilia Topuria to win the lightweight title, "one of the greatest fights you'll ever see" and the overall card, which saw every fight end with a stoppage, "great."

I hope Topuria doesn't use facial recognition to unlock his iPhone

He certainly has the skill. Crazy to think where Justin’s own career/legacy stood after UFC 300

honetsy that fight is a testament to how tough and badass gaethje is. he took a round kick to the face in the 1st that destroyed his nose and fricked up his breathing and he still made it to the final seconds until he was ko'ed. then he comes back and has 3 straight brawls and takes a ton of shots and still wins all 3.

A good friend of mine is best friends with Gaethje (was in his wedding) and grew up fighting with him fighting at the same gym. Said he is a quiet little nerdy dude until he puts the gloves on, then he totally transforms. Love it

These events should be viewed as loss leaders for the company. The amount of new MMA/UFC fans minted last night was likely yuge.

Gaethje was actually right about Topuria before the fight. Topuria really did box himself in with those predictions about winning by KO in the first.

Topuria acted like he had no respect at all for Gaethje's power and was just walking right into jabs in the first round. Then used up almost all of his gas throwing bombs and trying to get the finish in the first and second.

Topuria had Gaethje floored with a liver shot in the 2nd, and instead of making him get up and going for the finish standing--not even sure if Gaethje could stand at that moment--Topuria goes for submissions before laying on top of Gaethje for the rest of the round, allowing Gaethje to recover.

Gaethje must have a great chin, otherwise why did Topuria try to submit him after all the trash talk? Must have felt like he wasn't sure he could KO Gaethje after all.

I give Topuria credit for going back out there and doing well in the 4th. Then Gaethje got him with that sick knee to the ribs at the end of the round. No mas.

Topuria lost a lot last night--his undefeated record, his championship belt, his aura. The potential fight vs. Islam, the intrigue of a switch to boxing. His whole identity and idea of himself was shattered last night. Then there is his personal life and the divorce. And hardly anybody feels bad for him because he talked so much trash.

Minor detail, but even Topuria's haircut made things seem off.

yeah it will be interesting to see how he bounces back. tbh I think he needs to move down to 145 again. he is a small guy. he looks like he could make 135 if he tried.

Topuria looked like the freaking Joker in a Batman comic. Man his face was jacked up.

I picked every fight right except the Gathje/Topuria. Glad I'm not a big better because I would have put a of money on Topuria. I was pulling hard for Gathje but I didn't think he could do it. Boy was I wrong. That was incredible.

Conor losing to Nate Diaz might be the closest comparison. Conor thought he could finish Nate early, gassed out, then got beat up by the bigger guy.

Unlike Conor, I don't think Topuria will get a rematch, Gaethje will probably be retired by then.

If Conor is able to beat Max--Gaethje has said that Conor is the only legend he hasn't faced. Gaethje also said he wanted to avenge his loss vs. Max. Either one could be November at MSG maybe.

Such a great fight. ONe of my all time favorite UFC moments is when Nate got knocked down and was on his back looking up at Connor and flipped him off.Nate was a gangster. Hate he keeps doing these dumb fights and getting is arse whooped.

I would hope that Connor doesn't get a free pass to a title fight just for beating Max (I don't think he'll beat Max). He needs to earn his way back up the rankings. But I agree I don't think Topuria gets a re-match.

Ruffy might end up being a problem for some folks in the division in the future. Chandler has just become a punching bag for guys so I'm not putting a ton of stock in that win but Ruffy is a bad dude. Wouldn't mind a Ruffy vs Saint Dennis rematch and the winner of that getting a good fight with someone near the top.

It would be like how the UFC let Jon Jones fight Stipe for his legacy. I mean if Gaethje says that that's the only fight he'll do since Conor is the only legend left for him to face--if Conor is able to beat Max, is the UFC going to turn that down? Gaethje vs. Conor is gangbusters.
