I think it may be time for him to switch camps

Them telling him "stop trading blows / start taking him down" was the dumbest advice I heard from any camp all night. Jones is just too damn powerful and long. When DC had him on the mat early in the fight and Jones easily powered through him to get up, it looked bleak. Shockingly, DC just bulldogged his way into the fight by trading blows with Jones. Then they inexplicably tell him to abandon ship and get him on the mat, and he was a non-factor the rest of the way.

Jones in that 4th round was just scary. DC does know what it feels like to go 5 with Bones now. I think DC pissing Jones off that much was a good risk to take, but it seriously backfired. I kind of wonder what happens if he rolls into that cage with that same aggressiveness without Jones already on high alert.

Side note: a ton of people were bitching at Fox n Hound about the main event, which I found very odd. That was easily the most fun I've had watching a Jones fight. Normally it's 25 minutes (or less) of cold calculated dissection using his length. Was fun to see him mix it up last night. This rematch has already sold itself with the animosity at least.

Jones had over a FOOT in reach. Am I the only one that still came away impressed with Cormier? He got outclassed but from the end of the first to the middle of the third he took it to Jones. That is still very impressive

Yeah the traditional tkd/karate moves like axe kick, wheel kick, can worked when used correctly in the fight and drilled repeatedly

This is why I don't think I could (or would want to) watch MMA with a bunch of uneducated fight "fans". If they don't see a highlight reel KO or slugfest, they think the fight "sucked".

but one poster gave 10-8 to Cormier in the second.

people on here always want to give 10-8 rounds, I don't think they really understand what a 10-8 round is

I have to say I never thought Jones could challenge Fedor for GOAT heck I didn't even think he's the undisputed #1 P4P right now(Aldo has/had just as good a case).

But man that domination has me thinking that their is a very very slim chance he could challenge Fedor.

Anybody who thought any of those rounds were 10-8 doesn't know how to score. Cormier clearly won the 2nd, but he clearly won it 10-9.

It takes a hell of a one sided beating to be a 10-8 imo. A 10-7 IMO is when the opponent should call it quits

It was bad.

Remember when Kalib Starnes ran away from Nate Quarry the entire fight? I think they scored it 30-24.

Nope.

I looked back at the card and the main card had all 5 fights go to decision and all 5 were unanimous decisions. Not a single truly competitive fight in the bunch.

Burkman fought weird and slow, at a pace that favored Lombard. Gaudinot was physically outmatched by the Japanese guy's speed. Marquardt/Tavares was a nice match up but both fought really cautious and it ended up kinda being a bore. Jury had nothing to combat Cowboy with. (I remember in one of the embedded episodes, Cowboy coming up to Jury and his coaches to say hey, and all 3 kinda crumbled and just put their heads down and went right back to their phones. I don't think anyone in his inner circle was ready mentally to bring it to Cerrone) DC only had enough for 3 rounds and didn't even try to win the fight in the last 2. DC's gotta get something more in his arsenal to get over the hump.

I blame Silva for the shitfest that main card became.

I hope they put Cerrone on the Dallas card. I'd like to see that Felder dude and the Renneau chick some more too. Shawn Jordan fighting close to LA would be a good move too.

Jones/DC was definitely competitive. 4/5 rounds were close rounds. Round 4 was the only round that was not that hotly contested. Round 5, both fighters were pretty gassed and just clinched a lot but that is because the fight was so competitive that neither had much left by round five. Jones had more left, but not much more.

Jones/Cormier was a 3 round fight. 4 and 5 practically never happened.

McGregor getting a title shot without having faced Edgar, Lamas or Mendes is a joke

No. He took advantage of someone who looked like he prepared for a 3 round battle.

Exactly. The fight ends at 3 rounds and it's a split decision win by Jones. DC gassed and it was over.

No. It's a joke. He's only beaten 1 top 10 guy.

It's all about making that cash. If McGregor isn't deserving, then Aldo will make him look foolish. He'll go away rich and depending on how bad Aldo beats him maybe he'll walk away to never return, or he'll put up a good fight and stay active and get a rematch w/in a year or two.

Or McGregor wins the belt and goes on a tear defending the belt and jumps up a weight class like he says he'll do and tear through that division too.
