Can't even express how impressed I am with Jon Jones, so I won't really type it out much. Dude took the fight to DC, took his best shots, beat him up in the clinch (just like Teixeira), and took him down at least 3 times. Felt terrible for DC at the post fight presser when he started to cry realizing he has been runner-up his whole life.

Cormier's next move is an anti-bullying campaign. Become the mega-babyface, talk about getting back up, dusting himself off, climbing that mountain again and again and paint Jones as the schoolyard bully that he is. Go work the inspirational speaking circuit, selling himself as a work in progress like everyone else.
It's kinda the only way to get a re-match. Cormier needs to work on his physique more, work on his cardio, get a couple new tools and become a more complete MMA fighter. He's physically limited which makes him super easy to root for. The guy can be a huge money draw if he keeps promoting himself correctly. Hell he already is, but he's got to keep himself from being tossed back to the woodpile. It might take beating a couple more guys at LHW, but that cut seems to be pretty rough on him, he looked bad at weigh ins.

lulz all the Jones haters who for months said he would loose to DC
great fight though
that 4th round Jones showed how elite he really is
loved the post fight interview he gave zero fricks, but what was up with his haircut

I agree. I thought Daniel was going to win last night, and Jon beat him at his own game. I have followed MMA for a long time and can not argue that Jon Jones it the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. If you compare his resume vs Anderson Silva's wins and it is not even close. I thought Cain could beat him also before tonight, but I don't believe that anymore.

Not if you make the weigh ins 2 hrs prior to fight time. That's a death waiting to happen

I think it may be time for him to switch camps

I think you would still see some cutting, but it would not be as severe. If the rule changed to same day weigh ins today, we would see a lot of guys moving up a class or two.

Jones ran through Rampage, Shogun, Machida, Rashad, Gustafsson, Glover, Vitor, and now Cormier.
With him looking consistently dominant against that level of competition, how could you not say he's the greatest of all time?
With all due respect to Anderson Silva and GSP, their resumes don't compare.

he was destroyed in every phase of the fight
I wouldn't say every phase. Cormier landed some heavy shots. It could be argued that he won round 1. He certainly won round 2, and he was winning round 3 before the eye poke.
Jones was in better condition. DC didn't seem completely ready for a 5-round fight, and was done after round 3.

From personal experience weight cutting for a competition that has a weigh in 2hrs prior, performance sucks. Granted I didn't know how to rehydrate and it was for a national powerlifting meet but my performance sucked.

Cormier needs to go make a run at the HW belt. Cain is always injured

I appreciate the insight. I have never cut weight for any sport that I participated in. I'm sure it is incredibly hard on your body. Joe Rogan always talks about the effect that cutting has on the brain and how dangerous it is. I have never seen how these wrestlers at every level can do this and still have the energy to compete.

It depends on how much they cut when weigh ins are and who they have to help them with rehydration

Still can't believe this

49-46This is a joke
That's exactly how it should have been scored. 2nd round was nowhere near a 10-8, and Jones won every other round 10-9.

I'm too lazy to scroll through the pages but one poster gave 10-8 to Cormier in the second. Someone else posted that Cormier wasn't gonna gas or didn't gas in the 4th and 5th rounds

Jones being an arse and Cormier being from LA influenced the thread. Jones took it to Cormier.
Jones just has far too many athletic advantages over other fighters. There's less than a handful of people on the planet who wouldn't look outclassed against Jones.

Well he does have a crazy reach advantage

He's also extremely unconventional. It's hard to prepare for a guy that can do so much & still have seemingly endless weapons.
