The glazing from Rogan and DC over fighters they like was too much last night. They are like Jimmy Fallon gushing over fighters they like.
I wasn't going to mention it, but I was re-watching Topuria-Charles and the whole time Rogan is trying to set the narrative that Topuria is dealing with a different level of strength and skill in Charles at lightweight.
Then Rogan says 'But there's a difference already in how Charles is absorbing these shots', and immediately after that Topuria knocks Charles out cold. Kind of a reverse Anik 'not the cloth from which he is cut' before Leon head kicked Usman.
not syaing they dont say some stupid shite but thats kind of the narrative that we have seen from charles career.

Paddy will beat Topuria. Paddy is too big for him. He will smother Topuria. Styles make fights and Paddy is the right kind of opponent to take down Topuria.
You watched the Charles/Topuria fight and this is what you came away thinking?

I mentioned the Charles stuff because I had just re-watched that fight, but earlier in the card was when I noticed that Rogan and DC were going overboard with the flattery. In my opinion. I've seen other posters here mention that about Rogan and DC, but this is the first time I felt that way myself. The Rogan commentary right before the KO just put a stamp on it--he's absorbing these shots so well--flatline KO.
Moving forward against Topuria was a mistake by Charles, especially since he had the size and reach advantage. This is Paddy's only chance against Topuria--to keep him out of range.

Only casuals think Paddy has a shot at Topuria. Its a fun fight but wont end well for paddy. Only person that has a shot is Islam, but who knows when we see that fight. Im not as in love with Arman as the rest of this board is. I thought he lost to Charles

quote:Someone on X posted clips of Islam's striking vs. Charles... Islam would leave a lot of openings for Topuria. And Topuria has the speed advantage. Islam should play to his strength and keep it on the ground. But Topuria was passing to side control against Charles, almost had him in a crucifix, so Topuria is not defenseless on the ground.

The tape from Topuria-Charles will be very useful for Islam, Khabib and crew. What not to do basically.

Let Arman/Paddy fight in a title eliminator. Ilia called them both out anyway
Here’s what is going to happen. Paddy right now is #8 LW. That’s too low a ranking for a title shot. Next month Max is fighting Poirier. Max is currently #4, Poirier #5. Look for paddy to shoot your the ranking after this fight around #4, maybe even to #3(if max loses). Then Dana will announce paddy getting the TS and using that clip of ilia pushing him off in the octagon as promo.

How much did the 2 guys you just mentioned accomplish in MMA? Big Difference between Sport BJJ and MMA BJJ. Tiporia has more submission wins in MMA than he does KO's. Look back at when he fought Ryan Hall who is a very accomplished Sport BJJ and he totally shut him down and beat him up.

Many times it is far better just to turn the volume off. DC has become a terribly biased play by play that has become terrible and hard to listen to!!

I already mentioned that there’s a difference
Actually if Roger Concentrated more in mma he would have done even better than he had.

so Topuria is not defenseless on the ground.
Topuria is a Georgian wrestler. He's a semi-elite grappler with that base, but just prefers knock the lights out of his opponents because his boxing is so good and that's how you get the highlights.
Topuria's resume is insane looking back on all the names he's beaten.

Apparently on some stream DDP said gaethje and pimblett will be comain on his card in august

319 shaping up to be a hell of a card of that's the case.

Would make sense with Arman being the alternate for the recent title fight.
Arman/Topuria
Gaethje/Paddy (title eliminator)

Yeah I might have to hit that one if they add this fight. I’d love to see holler vs gaethje also
Poor Dustin’s card. Worst ppv ever

It would help if the UFC would finally announce the Holland fight for 318.

quote:Yes, most of his pre-UFC wins were by submission. It's insane.

I think it's Daniel Rodriguez? Holland vs. Rodriquez UFC 318
I swear Kevin just tells them to give him a fight every 8 weeks. True gamer, win or lose, gotta love it. Clockin' in, clockin' out.
