Head Coach Hot Board Version 3.2:
1. Urban Meyer
2. Jimbo Fisher
3. Ed Oregeron
4. Hugh Freeze
5. Eli Drinkwitz
6. Lincoln Riley
I dont know how serious this guy is, but if true, who in the hell does Virginia Tech think they are if they really feel they can attract anyone on that list? They were really good that one time Vick was there a quarter of a century ago and have had nice teams, but at this moment they are way closer to the bottom than the top.

Good lord. Foster is one season and 2 games into his tenure. The buyout must have been low
Do you think he would have turned things around?

I’ll rephrase what I meant: ucla’d administration is more serious about football than Florida
Agreed.
Which is just bizarre.

I think UCLA could be a decent job with the right coach. There’s a lot of talent in Southern California. UCLA was just screwed because the job became open so late in the cycle. They ought to call up D'Anton Lynn
Based on the deadly DEI nonsense and antisemitism on campus, UCLA should be shut down. Big 10 needs to expel that pissant directional ASAP!

I don’t go to the PT board, isn’t this where this type stuff should be. Some just like to read the topics they click on.

C'mon man... give the guy a break. He only lost to Old Dominion 45-26... he's doing the best he can

I wonder if Nico I’manidiot‘s dad is going to demand that he have a say (and veto) on who replaces Deshaun Foster.

It is not a serious list, it is the message board warriors who think we are Alabama North....the only two people on that list that may entertain a call for 2 seconds before recommending someone else is:
Drinkiwitz - its convoluted, but he has close connections to some folks in Blacksburg. But you dont leave the SEC unless they are pushing you
Riley - knows Beamer Jr. very well, but you dont leave LA for freaking Blacksburg
Here are the names mentioned in articles yesterday so be prepared to be bored:
Beamer Jr - do not want, need a clean break
Sumrall - he is going to the SEC
Bob Chesney - done well in 1 year at JMU, we cannot afford that risk right now
GJ Kinne - possible
Ryan Silverfield - solid coach, but we as a fan base cannot do the Memph thing again
Jamey Chadwell - too much baggage, no chance
Jason Candle - been passed over twice in Blacksburg, do not see 3rd time being the charm
Dan Mullen - Does he miss the small town feel...we could pay him much more than UNLV but he might be looking bigger
Jeff Monken - I like him, but too old
Charlie Huff - possible
Tyson Helton - possible
Alex Golesh - dont see it..see him going bigger
Vick - too much risk
Jimbo - hell no...he would not know what to do afte being at all the big programs
Pat Fitzgerald - no ties to the area...plus the rumors..nope
Dave Clawson - typical VT hire, but hope he stays retired
Shannon Dawson - nope...Miami does not translate to Blacksburg
Brian Hartline - heard his name a couple times, but cannot see it
Andy Kotelnicki - no more Penn St folks please
Tim Banks - would be like Pry, well respected DC, but never been the HC...
Pete Golding - frankly, I know nothing about him or Ole MIss defense
Glenn Schumann- probably can go bigger than VT but would not say no
Will Stein - not a fan of Oregon coming east...I know he went to Louisville
Scot Loeffler - coached at VT under Beamer...and got BOwling Green respectable...but again, not what I want moving forward
A few names not listed that I would like to discuss
Fran Brown - has turned around Cuse...knows the DC area and VT recruiting area well
Narduzzi - i know at first, most people will say no, but when we hired Pry he had reached out to see about any interest...he would not be a homerum, but again, we need someone to come in and clean house
Fickel - will he survive Wisconsin?

What about Cignetti? Plenty of success at JMU. A bit old, but VT is a better job than Indiana even in a worse conference

I would call him, but think he is at his final destination

Jamey Chadwell - too much baggage, no chance
I don't know him that well besides that he coached at Coastal and now Liberty and runs a fun offense.

Whichever one can best navigate the rotating door of players. These days the second some freshman or sophomore who slipped through the recruiting cracks balls out for a team like ours, trial lawyers line up to buy them for their favorite P4 program.
Dez had a good season last year, as did the Cajuns, due to talent like Terrance Carter and Harvey Broussard and an experienced QB. But once Carter and Broussard were gone/checked out, we saw in the SBC Champ game and bowl game vs TCU how that works out.
And it’s obvious this season that Dez doesn’t have the connections or whatever to reload.
Our administration also has to be willing to go out and get a head coach that they know will bolt the second he succeeds and is offered a better job. It’s almost like after seeing it happen with Napier, they didn’t want to have to deal with it again. Too much work. So hire a dude who will be a lifer.
These days, a lifer as a G6 head football coach is a bad thing. It means he hasn’t done anything for your program to make it stand out.

That's not the same Yaw Yaw that coached brilliantly at USC 12 years ago. He's gotten old, ungracefully.
