And he looked awesome

No, he didn't. He did score one touchdown on a 23 yard run. Other than that he had 8 carries for 21 yards and was 7-18 for 62 yards.

current detail leak says this year is sub 10m (9.6 i think it was) and then the rest is a team option. If they pick it up he will get a nice chunk of bonus/salary next year (mid 20s) then back down to a pretty reasonable average in the mid teens the rest of the way.

Sounds pretty team friendly.

People shouldn't automatically freak out when they hear contract numbers. Those total dollar values aren't worth the paper they're written on.

Extremely stupid

The Bills don't have a choice. They can't let him go because they have no other options at present time. He is getting paid what a starting, competent QB in the NFL deserves.

The Bills don't suck enough to reasonably expect to only win 3/4 games and play the draft lottery for a franchise QB. The are in mediocrity limbo, and when you are in limbo, you pay the market rate for your starter and hope the players around him produce above their levels to compete for a playoff spot.

Just goes to show that the NFL is swimming in money, and they don't really care who they spend it on.

I think that is what they are laughing at.

Dude was a probowl alternate in his first year starting and the team gave him the equivalent of a 1 year 9m contract with a 2 year team option at $15m per year followed by 3 single year options at the same and people are saying its a bad deal for the team? Really?

No there is no risk for the Bill-

Taylor will make $9.5 million in 2016, all of which is "fully guaranteed, but after that there is a lot of prove-it in the deal."
The team has the option to pick up the contract in 2017

The Bills did fine here. He is a top 15 QB. And if he does flop, they can release him for 10 million. If he does great, then they are set with a good contract. The Brock Osweiler contract is way worse for the texans. Bills did good here. Plus, he actually does well for them

That constitutes a good season in Buffalo these days so probably
