I wouldn’t ban it, but the videos I saw of the offensive line getting away with false starts makes it more unfair. They need to start calling that more if they are going to continue to allow it. Even make the false starts reviewable for this play.

It’s absurd that two linemen get away with early starts on a play that is already a challenge to stop.

If they called the play correctly I don’t think it would be quite as automatic.

That’s my issue.

Just call it when either team false starts or is in the neutral zone and I’m fine with it.

On one play alone the Eagles had both guards lined up offsides and they both moved early and they had both “pushers” move early too and not a single flag was thrown. The whole nation saw them get away with it so you can’t say it’s just salty Chiefs fans. This isn’t the first game they’ve done this either but it’s got a “cute” nickname and the NFL loves its branding, particularly to draw in female viewers (especially single moms).

Don't ban the play. Just go back to outlawing offensive players pushing a ballcarrier on any play.

and it’s even funnier because when the Redskins tried to time the snap and jumped offsides themselves (a few times), the refs threatened to award an automatic touchdown

so the defense has to just stand there and take it

If they didn’t line up 3 guys to push the quarterback then it would be a sneak.

It’s illegal to push a defensive player through the line. How is it allowed to push an offensive player through the line?

They have changed rules to benefit offense since I was a kid. Its just the way it is.

almost all teams have a FB or TE or somebody who can squat a car. Just need to teach them to take a snap. It’s not like you don’t know it’s coming.

Seattle just ran it with their TE. Surprised more teams haven’t taken this approach.

Yep, and when that isn't enough they just don't enforce things like the false starts for favored teams. Eagles got away with it again today, while Saints were flagged on their attempt.

Big improvement this week, went from 5 players offside to 0 and 3 players false starting to just 1.

They dont need to ban it, they need to call a falstart on the guards everytime they run it.
4th and 6 tush push dosen't have the same effect.

It's only officiated when the Saints are involved.

I'm not sure how they missed that false start on the first tush push today. I saw it live on TV and posted about it during the play before Fox caught it minutes later. I'm not sure how the refs would have missed that when it was supposed to be a focus and I could see it on TV... unless they missed it on purpose.

The play “works” because they allow the offensive team to line up offsides and false start

A lot of plays would be automatic like that

They don't have to ban it, just enforce the current rules. They jump early almost every time and line up in the neutral zone every time.
