OP has a valid point...

pre-injury Tua would have scored on a run against LSU in the first half. Post-injury Tua couldn't gear up to run. It was an obvious play at the time.
I'm pretty sure that rollout/fumble was related to pain and uncertainty in the ankle, too. I mean, he just never seemed to make sloppy plays like that before.

So today, he's bum-rushed by 2 DL, guys he used to be able to get away from. They hauled his arse down, and he got creamed because of it.

Pre injury or post injury, he wasn’t running past or through three defenders within 5 yards of him. Nice try though.

I agree 100%. People downvoting so feverishly have never played sports at an elite level.

I think yall are being way too dismissive. Saban knows he f'd up, too the way he was immediately tripping over himself to say it was the last series, etc

So, before that series, was the conversation on the sidelines between Tua

"Shut up, you're going in and that's that. Quit whining."

Or

"Coach, let me just finish out the half. Then let Mac come out in the second."

Or

"Tua, how's the ankle? Want to work on the two minute drill?"

"Sure, coach. I'm good to go."

Whatever.

It's a pretty solid bet that the dude is too physically fragile for football, though.

With his gifts, prolly should have steered him to baseball; might have been a decent shortstop or outfielder...

I suppose the old adage is true, "What do you call a person who finishes last in his/her class in medical school? Doctor."

Tua's ankle wasn't even involved in the play. He crashed down hard onto his knee with two players on top of him, which drove his leg into his hip.

He wouldn't have been hit if he didn't wait so long to throw the ball away.

He got hurt cause he’s slow and was chased down from behind.

Should have just thrown the ball away and listened to coach and stayed out the game

pretty sure that he sustained this injury because his femur was perpendicular to the ground when his knee hit and he was flexed forward at about a 90 degree angle while he had two defensive linemen on his back directly over his leg (thus, 100% of their weight as well as about 45% of his was all on that one joint crashing down with force.

This. That was a ton of force on that one joint.

I already stated this in the past and yesterday.

While several understand this, the very uneducated Louisiana peeps and other Southerners on here can't comprehend.

Sometimes, being on TD, is like getting on the short yellow bus and trying to have a conversation with the riders.

I doubt he gets caught like that fully healthy.

Saban risked this trying to get style points before the half.

Was never worth it.

It's well known by medical people that injuries that don't heal properly leads to other injuries because you overcompensate in other areas.

I guess there is no way to know for sure that Tua's ankle injury led to this injury, but it is a completely logical thought and very possible.

And Tua's ankle was bad enough that he got surgery for it. This wasn't a little ankle thingy.

Yup, which is why people like LesterEarl are idiotic for trying to relate an uninjured player in the same situation.

Tua was not right and they had a comfortable lead. It was Miss St. No reason to risk more potential injuries for a player that is more at risk for injury than others.. and has a history..

Serious question, I don’t know and don’t claim to know. When I hurt my foot, by changing the way I walked because of the pain. It weakened my hip. Don’t claim to be a doctor, and have no clue. Just wondering.

Maybe the NCAA should make a rule that with an injury, players must sit until fully recovered.
How many games would be played with such a rule?

Tua wanted to play. Its his body and his career.
Maybe he was still trying to win the Heisman.

Is the Tua injury the same one that Bo Jackson and against the Bengals that pretty much ended his career?
